Howdy podners! Cowboy Joe's ride is on a go...proosen 01-15-2009, 02:52 AM Hi! Picked ut this one at the LHS the other day, funny kit! Never built anything like this before and thought it would be fun for a change. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v332/proosen/Lil%20stogie/Locklyft_001_redigerad.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v332/proosen/Lil%20stogie/Locklyft_002_redigerad.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v332/proosen/Lil%20stogie/Locklyft_003_redigerad.jpg You even get a small box approx. 1 1/3 scale! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v332/proosen/Lil%20stogie/Locklyft_007_redigerad.jpg It looks really good, everything looks better then before. Neatly packed with everthing bagged separatly with the chrome trees wraped in paper for protection amongst themselfs in their bag. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v332/proosen/Lil%20stogie/Locklyft_004_redigerad.jpg The chrome looks better then ever! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v332/proosen/Lil%20stogie/Locklyft_010_redigerad.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v332/proosen/Lil%20stogie/Locklyft_013_redigerad.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v332/proosen/Lil%20stogie/Locklyft_012_redigerad.jpg First day of building, frame, engine and wood in their base colours. The tarp is almost finished, just a thin layer of the base colour again to tie everything up and tone it down a bit. Then I will add patches from the decal sheet and after that give it a light mist coat of some dirt and dust-colour. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v332/proosen/Lil%20stogie/Process_002_redigerad.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v332/proosen/Lil%20stogie/Locklyft_005_redigerad.jpg Made new intaketrumpets from a scrapped antenna and springs from copper wire instead of the chunks in the box. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v332/proosen/Lil%20stogie/Process_008_redigerad.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v332/proosen/Lil%20stogie/Process_005_redigerad.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v332/proosen/Lil%20stogie/Process_006_redigerad.jpg Also started on the woodgrain, tedious job so this is where I left off yesterday. Plenty more to do before it's finished. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v332/proosen/Lil%20stogie/IMG_2060.jpg Finally a quick mock-up to show where things are heading. I'd really like to have a small base with a cactus or two. Frame is now candy red and I think a quick rub will make it shine. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v332/proosen/Lil%20stogie/Process_009_redigerad.jpg Wouldn't it be nice with something like this beside it with a few rocks and gravels around! http://www.triplertack.com/images/cactus2s.jpg Well, that's about it for this time. Niclas Orion37170 01-15-2009, 03:34 AM cool kit, never saw this before. keep it up Hawk312 01-15-2009, 08:59 AM    :lol2: :lol2: :grinno: The model comes with a gun!  It looks like you are going to do it justice though. Nice work on the stacks and the springs! Golden_Cross 01-15-2009, 04:27 PM YEEEEEHAAAAA..!!!!! Gitty-up-doggy..!!! Looks Great Man..I think it's cool to step out of the same old builds..With the kind of detail you have going on it's going to be quite a challenge..CAN'T wait to see more..!!!..I LIKE it!! rollin80s 01-15-2009, 07:31 PM that's a pretty cool kit. interested to see how this turns out. proosen 01-19-2009, 06:53 AM Got some more done on the 'Stogie. All woodwork is done and I'm pretty satisfied with the result of it. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v332/proosen/Lil%20stogie/IMG_2111.jpg Some decals found a home on the "car" too. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v332/proosen/Lil%20stogie/IMG_2107.jpg ...and finally a little mock-up of how it's looking for the moment with all the patches put in place but still lacking the final weathering. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v332/proosen/Lil%20stogie/IMG_2103.jpg Soo long! Niclas klutz_100 01-19-2009, 07:19 AM ha! love it Niclas  That brought a smile to my face  What is that flat box art ???? jano11 01-19-2009, 08:45 AM Wow! That's one cool model! Great job on those wood panels, they look very realistic. Could you tell us more about how you did it? quadzero 01-19-2009, 10:15 PM I would probly never get this kit as it always seemed too toy-like to me, but leave it to you to bring out the beauty in it. Excellent skills at work here, great looking model. proosen 01-20-2009, 03:24 AM ha! love it Niclas  That brought a smile to my face  What is that flat box art ???? He he....:) That box art is a sheet that apparently comes in all AMT reissues from now on. There is the same kind of box in all of them I've seen so far and it's about 1 1/3 scale of the big box. I'll try to have this ready really soon, have some spare time for the moment since I'm out of employment for a while. Oh well, hope to get something to do real soon or I'll start climbing the walls. Niclas proosen 01-20-2009, 03:35 AM Wow! That's one cool model! Great job on those wood panels, they look very realistic. Could you tell us more about how you did it? Thank you! The wood panels is done as follows: First there is a coat of Humbrol 71 that I let cure for a day or two. Then I roughly painted the dark parts with a thin brush and Humbrol 9, let that cure for 15-20 minutes. Then it's time for some light strokes with a flat brush slightly damp with white spirit. Best is to squeese out as much spirit as possible and let it rest while doing the #9 colour. In a rather slobby and not to tidy way I sweep the wood lenghtwise to sort of blend the two colours together a bit. If the brush is to damp the effect will get lost as most of the paint will get rubbed out or away totaly. When this is thoroughly dry I simply brushed on some Tamiya clear orange to give it the final finish I wanted. ...and that's about it! Niclas vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
