1/24 Lamborghini "Twins"brando590 01-12-2009, 11:56 AM http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0087.jpg This double kit was purchased on ebay. I built it when I was a kid and I've craved revenge for years now. It is copyrighted 1987. All sprues were still in the factory stapled plastic bags and nothing is missing. It is a very detailed, high-quality kit. As you can see I've already removed most of the engine pieces.http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0090.jpg Very nice rubber tireshttp://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0092.jpg Im starting with the LP500s but plan to do a side by side build once I am on my way.http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0088-1.jpg I pulled and sanded all of the body components. It looks like the door window frames are going to be a fitting issue. http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0095.jpg For some reason the pop up headlights were not cut out but the kit gives the option of moving pop up headlights. I cut them out and sanded the ports.http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0097.jpg Sorry for the blurry photos. My camera is nothing special. I love the shape of this car. Anyway, I'm working on painting engine parts and should have some more to post in a day or two. Thanks for looking. Any ideas for body color? Iwas thinking of doing one white and one black to be displayed side by side with the engines on stands. And this is my first post so bear with me on the logistics of the text and photos. I'll figure it out.http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0094.jpg endac 01-12-2009, 12:31 PM Nice projects, look forward to seeing more. taliesen 01-12-2009, 01:00 PM Looking good! Interesting to see that they made the same mis-labelling error on the LP500S in this series that they did on the 1/12 version. They should have used the same main body as they have on the 500S, it would have had the accurate shape on the front wheel arches at least - but then it wouldn't have the periscope roof . . . As far as color - I'd say stay away from black. I may be steering you away from that color because I'm using it on mine, and I'm being protective of that particular color - but you do tend to lose some of the interesting details the Countach had with the naca ducts in the door and the cooling/intake griles on the rear if everything is black. That being said, I've always loved the Countach in all black . . . . looks like Darth Vader's ride like that :evillol: Looking forward to seeing these come together - I'll consider them the younger cousins to my build  brando590 01-12-2009, 02:31 PM Always being one to improvise, I pulled this red wire from my old phone adapter to use for the plug wires. http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0106.jpg Then i used specs on wire lengths from a 1:1 Countach and simply divided by 24 to fit the model. Even though the distributors are port side the wire lengths are the same on right and left due to the offset of the two distributor caps. http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0108.jpg brando590 01-12-2009, 02:49 PM http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0107.jpgIm worried that the width of the wire is too much for the scale. What do you think? Here are a couple of the rear(or front?) of the engine details. Not done detailing yet. Im going to add some tiny wiring and the copper ground of the alternator will be added using an old cell phone part i found that looks just like it. http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0112.jpg http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0115.jpg And the valve covers before and after painting the lamborghini lettering on them. http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0117.jpg http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0121.jpg This model doesnt include carb linkages or fuel lines so ill be using this 0.34 gague bronze wound guitar string and some black vinyl tubing from a 1/24 Peterbilt truck. I know these little details can be purchased from suppliers for the purpose of modeling but I enjoy the quest for an improvised setup. http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0122.jpg taliesen 01-12-2009, 02:57 PM I think your fear is right - that wire looks a bit too big. The ones I used on the 1/12 were about 0.8 mm / .0315 inch (1/32 inch) diameter, and they look about right - that's just my eyeball to reference pictures, no proof to back that up. I think that what you're using may be even bigger than that - if you're looking to get some smaller stuff, what I found was in the jewelry making section of Hobby Lobby, and was cheap (about a buck for 4 feet). I think Detail Master makes scale correct stuff, but I have no idea what the cost looks like. brando590 01-13-2009, 01:09 PM I think your fear is right - that wire looks a bit too big. Thanks. Im off to the hobby shop.:banghead: mrawl 01-14-2009, 02:05 AM That's a reboxed Fujimi EM Lambo kit(s) me thinks. Very interesting. brando590 01-14-2009, 07:41 PM That's a reboxed Fujimi EM Lambo kit(s) me thinks. Very interesting. You are correct sir. Captain Mark 01-14-2009, 10:14 PM Looks like some good progress - keep us posted! Orion37170 01-15-2009, 03:35 AM cool project seems as those testors lambos are the same as the fujimi em ones, right? brando590 01-15-2009, 07:54 AM cool project seems as those testors lambos are the same as the fujimi em ones, right? Yes. The fujimi logo is on the box next to testors. brando590 01-21-2009, 10:41 PM Just a small update. I used guitar string to make the throttle linkage. The string is nickel wrapped in bronze. I stripped the bronze off to simulate the spring mechanism. Still more details will be added. Parts on the way! My camera sucks. Sorry http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0150.jpg http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0147.jpg http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0144.jpg brando590 01-29-2009, 11:59 AM http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0155.jpgI have primed both bodies and assembled and primed the LP5000 engine. http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0154.jpg Here you can see the difference in the two bodies. Most notably the roof and engine door. http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0153.jpg http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0152.jpg Here are all the sprues for the 5000. It has about a million parts. http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0151.jpg And the 5000 engine assembled and primed. http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0156.jpg The major difference between the two is the induction system. http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0157.jpg http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0158.jpg brando590 01-29-2009, 12:32 PM I painted the LP500s bright blue. It reminds me of the first Weezer album cover(for those of you who remember). Im really happy with the way it turned out. The LP5000 will be bright yellow. http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0162.jpg http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0164.jpg http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0165.jpg BVC500 01-29-2009, 12:36 PM nice work so far! I like that blue. taliesen 01-29-2009, 12:39 PM Looking good! Guess I need to catch up in the body work department :) Are you going to paint the fender flares on the LP500 the same color blue, or are you going for the semi-gloss black look instead? brando590 01-29-2009, 12:58 PM The flares will be semi-gloss black along with the front spoiler. Im toying with the idea of leaving the rear wing off. Suggestions? taliesen 01-29-2009, 01:44 PM It's a matter of opinion in the end, but if you're going with all yellow on the 5000s, including the flares, then the black on the 500 will give a nice contrast and set it apart a bit more. My personal thought is if you're going with the flares, you should include the wing - I know they came in both varieties (in fact, the one that I've based my build on for color selection has the flares and no wing), but I like the wing. Again, having the 5000 next to it with the wing, leaving it off the 500 would give a bit of contrast to the display. Of course, if you want to get nitpicky, your 500 is technically not a 500 at all, but more a copy of the Walter Wolf LP400S prototype - and all examples of the WW specials (as far as I know) had semi-gloss flares and a wing on board. taliesen 01-29-2009, 01:50 PM Meant to say as well - found some 30 gauge wire at Fry's Electronics that looks about right scale-wise for 1/24 ignition wires - made by PAGE and labelled as Kynar Wire, it was in the electronics components section (resistors, capacitors, etc). 100 ft was about 12 USD, 50 foot about 8, I grabbed some red and blue. It's about .46mm/.018 inch diameter. . . brando590 01-30-2009, 01:34 PM So its another snow day in Pittsburgh and I've got nothing better to do than work on my builds. I painted most of the LP500 engine and finished the LP5000 brakes. http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0173.jpg http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0174.jpg http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0175.jpg http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0181.jpg Did some work on the front boot. I wired the battery and brake reservoir. http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0176.jpg And the brakes. Wierd set up. The rotors face in toward the car. http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0178.jpg http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0179.jpg http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh401/brando590/100_0180.jpg taliesen 01-30-2009, 02:29 PM Looking very good! Didn't know you were from the 'burgh - I grew up there myself (but moved about 14 years ago). So we know that neither of us will get much done on the Lambos on Sunday . . . .:lol2: brando590 01-30-2009, 02:47 PM Looking very good! Didn't know you were from the 'burgh - I grew up there myself (but moved about 14 years ago). So we know that neither of us will get much done on the Lambos on Sunday . . . .:lol2: Yup. I've lived here since 96. Definitely no building on Sunday. Coverage starts at 7am here and I'll probably be popping my first Iron City by noon.:evillol: I only drink IC if the Steelers are in the playoffs which seems to be every year. Anyway, your Lambo looks great too. Go Steelers! brando590 01-30-2009, 02:59 PM Engines displayed separately or in the car? Thoughts? Since its hardly visible through the tiny engine door, I'm leaning towards leaving them out. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
