rusted pans on 99 grand cherokeeHV2JEEP 01-12-2009, 08:07 AM My fathers 99 limited was leaking transmission fluid so I went to fix it thinking it was a line. Well it wasn’t. It was the pan. It has rusted completely through. I also noticed that the engine oil pan isn’t far behind. In my family we have 3 GC 4.7s and another I picked up cheep for parts. I have noticed that all of them have severely rusted pans. Looks like Chrysler really dropped the ball on the rust protection. I bet the trans pan is leaking a quart every 4 days or so. I called around to the auto parts stores and no one has a listing for one. I will be checking with the dealer today. My first question is wouldn’t you think Chrysler would fix such a common problem that could cause catastrophic damage to a vehicle. “Yah that would make for less service what was I thinking.” Next thing is I’m guessing its not going to be cheep for a pan from the dealer. The pans I have found on the web for the 45RFE are for dodge Dakotas and rams will that pan work on my grand Cherokee? Id rather get something aftermarket so it wont rust out again. HV2JEEP 01-12-2009, 09:33 AM never mind $46 from the deler. I'm picking it up tomorrow Biigpuker 01-25-2009, 07:26 PM I have a 99, guess i'll keep an eye on those pans! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
