a few days ago my speakers started buzzing...does anyone know what this is or how i can fix it? i think something is off because it doesnt sound like the speakers but the plastic vibrating. if its that how can i get the plastic of in the back and realign it? thanks,

1. check your ground wires T-H-O-R-O-U-G-H-L-Y make sure they are all connected and clean

2. Check your speaker wires, make sure they are all connected clean

3. Check the housing around the speakers to check for vibrations and such - sometimes a loose piece of plastic can be fixed with some craft glue er something.

well, im having trouble checking the plastic. on my 96 civic, for the rear i dont know how to get the plastic part off? does anyone know how so i could check it?

Im not to sure on the 6th gens, but the plastic cover for the rear speakers should just pop off...I think. I could be wrong, would be best to take the advice of someone who owns a 6th gen.

did you get the buzz fixed? what was it?

it comes and goes. i really dont think it is the speaker but i would just like to check. but for the most part there is no vibration now...still feel i should check it out though.

yes, definitely. checking it out would be a good idea. the fact that the buzz comes and goes screams loose wire somewhere. It never hurts to get in there and check it out, that way you can fix the loose ones, and re-secure anything else while you've got everything apart. Because even coming and going, when the buzz comes during your favorite song, it sucks.

what I've found to be a great back up to those handy dandy wire connectors is hot glue. I know, I know sounds crazy but, it can be remove with your finger nail if need be, and it really holds wires, as well as insulates them, very well.

ok ill give that a try...but i dont know how to get to the speaker to even check it out. im having a problem with that.

the speaker cover should just pop off.
being a buzz, I would suspect a ground wire before a speaker wire though. I would check the deck and your ground wire in the/from the fuse box.

do you have any aftermarket stuff in there? also, once you get to the speakers, check the screws that mount them in place, those coming loose would cause a vibration.

Mine were doing that but I noticed they were ripped... :-(

i have tryed to get yo my speakers to look at them but i am having no luck. there is no place for a screwdriver to be placed so i can pop off to plastic cover. and i have no aftermarket stuff on there. im really new to all this so im not sure where ground wire and fuse box are. thanks

You need to get yourself a Helms/Haynes manual then. It'll show you were everything is and how to get it off and back on.

The ground wire is the black one coming off the bck of your deck. ground is always black (or should be). Your center console should come off pretty easy just a few screws at the bottom on the sides. then slide your deck out and follow the black wire, and make sure that all the connections are secure.

I have a Haynes repair manual and it is the BEST THING EVER! No MATTER WHAT happens to my car the book tells you exactly what and how to do fix it. It even shows pictures and steps. They are available at any auto parts store around 15 dollars... I paid 14 and come change... you should really get it. Its a life saver... in some cases..:D

for the 96-up civic coupe and 4 door, the whole rear dceck has to be removed. you have to take out the back seat top and bottom, the side padding as well. it is a lot of work, and a lot to take apart.

eww all that for just speakers? Im happy with my 4 sony 5 1/2" xplods
and 2 12" subs (only one sub installed though):confused:
