Can anyone share with me what it is like to change a timing belt on the 3800 V6? I've got 130K and planning a trip to Florida. I bought the car at 79K so I'm 99% sure I'm running the original. Thanks in advance. Rob

Very easy there is none, it is a chain engine. LOL

Yes just realized that (no belt) when reading a thread on the Impala forum. Is the chain part of a scheduled service plan or are they usually something that is better left alone? Former VW owner and they had belts that broke and slipped. They broke and slipped all on trips to Florida so that is why I am curious about my Monte.

Got 240k on my 3.8 LTZ, no chain play I can tell, this is not a maintenance item
