Wouldn't it be nice if they brought this over from japanGOD 03-12-2001, 07:25 PM If they were to bring over the nissan silvia or the skyline . Either one would make me happy :D i would buy the first one that came into the dealer . But i don't think that this will happen :( I dont think i really like the way the new Z looks . I think it will just take sometime for me to get use to that kinda look CivicType-R 03-21-2001, 09:17 PM Just curious - but didnt they already bring the skyline over?? GOD 03-21-2001, 10:26 PM Hum........lets see here...... i think If their was a SKYLINE GT-R i would have one right now .......i swear stupid kids  igor@af 03-21-2001, 10:33 PM you can get a GT-R in the US from MotoRex for a price that will not only make you drop your jaws, but actually brake em  GOD 03-21-2001, 10:34 PM Originally posted by igor@af you can get a GT-R in the US from MotoRex for a price that will not only make you drop your jaws, but actually brake em  smarta$$ ;) R33 03-23-2001, 01:40 AM What? You don't have the Silvia too ?:bloated: I think you all should move from the US:D Motorex's Skyline? If you have that kind money, you would rather buy a Ferrari wouldn't you? Peace.:sun: igor@af 03-23-2001, 07:59 AM Brand new R34 GT-R will cost around $90k from MotoRex. But I think it's well worth it. :D No Ferrari, no car, is better than the Skyline GT-R in my opinion. enzo@af 03-23-2001, 10:59 AM Originally posted by R33 Motorex's Skyline? Peace.:sun: Most definitely:D:cool: igor@af 03-23-2001, 11:09 AM Oh shut up Enzo :finger: Skyline GT-R is so much better than any Ferrari  We can argue about it on ICQ lata ;) hehe:p enzo@af 03-23-2001, 02:29 PM You can argue....I'll simply know the truth:D No, no no, I know of the Skyline's excellence. I really do wish they'd bring them over. I mean, that sort of performance matched with the availability for modification and with a relatively cheap price. It's a great car....but, I'd still take a Ferrar:sun: Racer 20 03-23-2001, 04:42 PM The Skyline GTR rocks. But it is a saloon. Ferrari makes GT and sports cars. They don't even have a car with an engine under 8 cylinders in their current line up of new cars. ;) Campair the GTR to the 2001 BMW //M 3 , but not to Ferreri. igor@af 03-23-2001, 04:47 PM You can easily compare the GT-R to any Ferrari though. Just soop the RB26DETT a lil, maybe to like 600 horses, and it will beat any Ferrari, 1/4mile, n-ring, whatever the conditions. ;) R33 03-26-2001, 11:23 PM GTR cannot be compared to a Ferrari? Hmm..that's new! Just compare the numbers. GTR R 33/34 vs F355 / 360. Free the GTR's breathing, increase the boost and you have 380hp at the wheel compared to 380hp at the engine of the F355 and about 410hp at the engine of the F360. Real world performance? Almost the same if not better than the Ferraris. I have told it before and I am gonna tell you again - I smoked a F355 in a puff in my GTR! But of course, the Ferrari's V8 sounds so sweet ! But wait till the GTR is modded up to 500-600hp at the wheel - the Ferraris are going to tremble in their pants! All said and some are done.....if I have the money, I still want a Ferrari or two!! Long live Ferrari!:sun: Racer 20 03-27-2001, 01:20 AM I uderstand your point. But, IMHO, it's even lamer to compair a modified GTR to a Ferrari... whatever 355 challange, or 360. The stock R34 "tweaked" to 325bhp can keep up with the 355 (the 400R should give it a challenge :smoker2: ). The 360 is a different story though. Shoot it has faster lap times on tracks (from what I've seen so far) than the 550 Maranello and Chevrolets Corvetter ZO6.  ;) Plus 8s and 12s sound better than a 6... :( (...not to say my R33 GTR doesn't sound like Godzilla :D ) R33 03-27-2001, 09:55 PM But Racer, you need to remember that stock GTR's numbers cannot be really compared to the Ferrari's numbers because the Japanese restricts their power by private arrangement among their manufacturers (what a stupid thing to do! ) Can you imagine if the restriction is not there. They will make the Ferrari look tiny man!! Is the F360 faster round the track than the Maranello? Wow!! Perhaps it's b'coz it's much lighter and smaller. I mean the Mara is not exactly svelte! You want to know how much F360 cost in M'sia? USD 474000.00!!!!! Ridiculous price! SkylineUSA 04-09-2001, 12:04 PM If you can get a Skyline for it's actual value, you would be comparing a 308 to a GT-R 34. Considering that it takes about $8000 for just the 15,000 mile tune up on a Ferrari my money is on the GT-R, but if you are comparing the cars on just their merit, I would take a Modena over a R34 any day. I just do not like the price tag that comes with it and the high maintenace fees as well. You got to give it to Nissan for building an automobile that will seat 5, get 23mpg, and hold it's own with a Ferrari:wave: SkYLiNeFrEaK 05-03-2001, 02:09 PM At least nobody goes around driving a FAKE Ferrari like the one featured at www.exoticreplicacars.com Damn, Skylines would look horrible if anyone faked the design of one, and frankly, i would rather drive the REAL deal, not some knock off piece of shit. REAL is always better IMO:D :explode:Fake cars can go to hell BBD 05-05-2001, 06:57 PM 90k for a GTR34 heheh ,, well then I then I think I am a lucky guy here, get a brand new GTR 34 for 20,000 USD ahhhh packing my bags end of this year am going to Dubai to get it enzo@af 05-05-2001, 07:28 PM I don't understand how people can say "Just make the Skyline have 600 hp and it will beat a 355" Fine, then give the Ferrari 800 hp and it will beat the GTR. sure, there is an ease of modification and price issue, but that's basically irrelevant. Otherwise the McLaren F1 would be worthless. Do you see my point? Z250R 05-11-2001, 07:27 PM Originally posted by BBD 90k for a GTR34 heheh ,, well then I then I think I am a lucky guy here, get a brand new GTR 34 for 20,000 USD ahhhh packing my bags end of this year am going to Dubai to get it Where is Dubai and how did you get a GTR 34 there for $20,000 us dollar's? also what year is it? I haven't done much reading on skylines to know all the years what models were offered. Also what is better the r33 GTR or R34 GTR? Thanks lcali1 05-22-2001, 10:13 PM I believe its in India. Correct me N E 1 if Im wrong. :D R35 05-22-2001, 10:33 PM Not quite. :) It's a country on its own. http://dubaitourism.co.ae/dtcm/html/information/focus.htm#b As for the other questions, if I'm correct (again correct me if I'm wrong), but I think the R34 series started in mid 97, released as a 98 or something like that. As for which is better? Preformance wise the R34 gets more, but it's really up to you. I really like the look of the R33, but feel that the R34 looks meaner? They really do look different from each other. In the end I'll take either if not both:D BBD 05-23-2001, 02:31 PM R35USA ,, yup yup thats my home town man ,, stuck in the US right now ,,, but ok the Skylines sold there are 33's 34's ,,, Aristo and all the Jap imports are their the nice ones :) for low $$ contact me at saitan900@hotmail.com if you need more info I can try to help as much as I can VQuick 05-23-2001, 08:38 PM It would be great if Nissan brought the Silvia here. It'd be a great 'entry-level' Nissan sports car. Only thing is, with the SR20DET, it's just as fast(if not faster than) the Z. Big conflict of interest there. To tone it down a bit, I'd recommend the new QR25DE. With 180hp(or more, if Nissan tuned it a bit), it could still move. With it's great chassis, rear-wheel drive, and awesome handling, it'd be a great competitor for the upcoming RS-X. And of course, it would totally outclass the RS-X in torque output.;) Since we don't know if there's going to be a 2-door Sentra equivalent, let alone a 2-door SE-R, an inexpensive($18-20k) Silvia would be a viable proposition.:) R35 05-23-2001, 09:16 PM Wasn't the 240SX then US version of the Silvia? Yes a very sad version.:apuke: I agree on the compete against the Z thing. Funny how in Japan they manage to keep the Z "Fairlady", Silvia, and Skyline (in all it's version) all in line and popular and they can't do the same in the US. Also the Z has a stronger following here due to the once great 240, of course that could easily change once everyone see's the Skyline:frog: 0805041605 06-03-2001, 01:11 AM yeah, that is amazing that all of their 2 seater sports cars stay popular of there, while they can barely have just one here. if they did bring the skyline over here, it better have a good price tag, cuz you know all the v8 boys will still rather have a corvette. also, i would like to buy one. right now my only hope is winning the lottery, importing the car, and then using the rest for insurance. also, knowing americans, i bet a number of them will get pissed off if they dont make an automatic version. dodgy 06-03-2001, 04:01 AM ferraris are cool...but for the price of one you could have a gtr modded to hell. Seen the vielside r34 street drag gtr? 1000+ hp at the wheels? they had it over here for in NZ a while ago and did 350km/h in the rain. madness.... 0805041605 06-03-2001, 06:42 PM i think it has like 1380 hp. imagine driving that monster. koh 06-03-2001, 09:02 PM yea...240sxs were silvias over here, problem is that we got a KA24DE not a SR20DET in it...100hp difference R35 06-04-2001, 02:01 AM Thanks Koh. Ya hopefully Nissan won't make that mistake again and start selling the same high performce cars to everyone, Japan, Europe, Australia, and in the US. Hell we all love a high performace vehicles, rihgt?!:sun: Morpheus XIII 06-05-2001, 03:22 AM Don't you all think its strange how we are basing comparisons on 2 cars that are so very different in so many aspects... why is it that Ferrari is used so oftenly as a reference point for other cars? First, we are comparing Nissan's flagship sports car against the poor-man's Ferrari (F355/F360). Secondly, the Nissan is still significantly priced lesser than any Ferrari $135,000 - $90,000 = $45,000. Thirdly, the car's bodies... enough said. The Ferrari isn't even a grand tourer. Don't compare; they are both spectacular automobiles in they're own ways. adamandsonja 06-05-2001, 07:00 AM quote"Don't compare; they are both spectacular automobiles in they're own ways." very true! however i would hardly call the 360 (especially) a poor man's ferrari. it's just the least expensive ferrari. adam SkylineUSA 06-05-2001, 12:18 PM Ya, I would consider a 400, Mondial, or a 308 a poors man Ferrari. Adam 06-05-2001, 05:45 PM it's coming here straight from nissan @ regular price in 03 happy? Morpheus XIII 06-05-2001, 09:16 PM Ah, forgive me for that blasphemous statement on the 360. ;) However I thought were talking about factory new cars only. On another note, who agrees with me that $90,000 for a new Skyline is fairly pricey? None of the Skylines were really designed to look like exotics, therefore why not get an older one? My personal favorite is the R32 GT-R vspec. Much like the Ferrari F40, its a monstrous uncontrollable beast, unrefined and pure. And for $30,000 its quite a bargain. Seeing a couple of R32s, 33s, and 34s lurking around Southern California does my soul good. :D dodgy 06-05-2001, 09:31 PM gotta agree with u there - the r32 is my favourite skyline too. Ive driven a few and i love them. I driven my friends 420 hp gts-t (thats a rear wheel drive turbo 2 litre - rb20det) and ive driven a family friends 500 hp vspec gtr - both VERY fun, epsecially the gts-t in the wet. They are very cheap here in NZ - an r32 gts-t can be bought for around NZ$12,000 ( approx US$5,500 at the moment) and r32 gtr vspec for under NZ$30,000 (US$13,500). im saving up.... R35 06-05-2001, 10:31 PM Well have to remember that the $90,000 is a marked up price. A new Skyline GT-R R34 V-spec II will cost you approx $50,000 US. if you buy it from a dealer in Japan. Add on $25,000 to have MotoRex convert it for you, or pay the $90,000 to have them take a used one and bring up to US approved specs. I personally like the R34's look the most. If you see it in your rear-view mirror you know to get the F#@K out of its way. Ya it does look like Nissan will bring the next generation Skyline (R35) to the US, but until they do or at least release a statment on it we all have to sit on our thumbs and guess what the next version will be like. Tons of guessing, rumors, etc on the net:D As for comparing "cars", whether it's a Skyline, Ferrari, Porsche, or a Hyundai it really doesn't matter much since people will always compare one to the other. Kind of like little Johnny and his riced up Civic talking about how he beat a Mondial going in reverse:confused: Anyone with a brain cell should be able to figure out what is real and what is just plain BS. For the price of a Mondial, I'd buy 2 Skylines a Stagea and a bigger garage:D but that's me:frog: Initial D 06-19-2001, 01:37 PM Has anyone tried one of these importers for skyline availability http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/import/gray0012.html DVSNCYNIKL 06-19-2001, 01:42 PM Originally posted by Initial D Has anyone tried one of these importers for skyline availability http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/import/gray0012.html Hmmmm, interesting. None in NY to do importing. God this sucks!! I have to go to Connecticut to see the nearest importer. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
