i use the silver star headlights and h1 + h4 bulbs and lamps.for the daily diver silver star are the best choice. i have built head lamp relay up grade many times with excellent results. here is a link that explains the wire up grade. http://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/relays/relays.html here is a look at my silverstars(low beam) and h1 bosh (hi beam) http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff306/463_photos/1001.jpg

I replaced the standard lamps with halogen lamps same fixture and they did produce a better light and a more concentrated beam...I replaced all 4...I did not use any kit though...

the relays give the lights full amp and voltage and saves the high amp & heat build up on your dimmer and headlamp switch.

my caprice came factory with high and low halogen lamps ( RPO TT4 )and when i went to the h4 & h1 55 and 60 watts X 4 = 220 watts thats when i put the 2 kits in to remove the high amp load of the dimmer/head light switch and wires with a nicer white light.:) just because in my 82 with the same lights i was left in the dark when the headlight relay tripped off and surprise at 65mph it's just a little unnerving to say the least. the upgrades are well worth the time and money to me.

Been using the halogen sealed beams for years on my 84. No problems. The sealed halogens use the same amps but produce the crisper, brighter light. Especally on bright. Works great on my 86 silverado also. Great up grade. Low $$$$$

hey nova or 463, do you have any pics of what your lights look like turned on? Ive been wanting to do this upgrade for a while too, that or just convert to the euro front end also. either way i still wanna get the silverstar lamps.
