I have a 1997 dodge grand caravan that the fuel gauge jumps from actual amount to empty and rings low fuel light?! someone told me might be a ground wire if so does anyone have any idea on where I would start to look for the short I have the full tech manual but, there are lots of wires and witch one should I check or does anyone one know of any other problems this might be thanks a lot you guys here are life savers.

Fairly common problem usually caused by a bad fuel level sensor. It's part of the pump assembly in the tank.

Mine does that every once in a while too, right after a fill-up. Will never do it after I have used a gallon or so.

well hasn't happend since? weird maybe was stuck or something/? don't know but, that is why its been so long to repost waiting to see and nothing several fill ups later and nothing so who know's for now but, aint' digging into something that is working lol..

Mine has been doing it off and on for several years. It might work fine for a couple months then it's back a few weeks then gone again. It has a mind of it's own. I just live with it.
