Well on the way home from san francisco sunday night, about 170 miles from home...the truck decides all of a sudden it doesn't want to shift into 3rd anymore.

So we had to hit the flashers and drove home at a whopping 45mph @ 3k rmps on the I-5 south (not fun).

But that's not all...after we got off the I-5 it started acting REAL bad and wouldn't hold rpms for anything. So finally we got about 3 miles from home and while in "gear" the truck wouldn't move...at all.

So we called a tow truck to get it home and after about 15 mins of waiting I decided to start the truck to see if any improvement and it started to go again.

So my question is: Is my transmission done??

It's an 05 VHO LQ9 and the trans is a ??? 65e or 80e? someone help me out there plz?

The truck has 83k on it and was purchased used 3 months ago. I have a feeling this won't be under warranty any longer because of the mileage so I'm gonna have to eat this one...

Any help would be appreciated.

Needs to be put on a transmission capable scanner and checked out.
Read out shift data and get codes.
Post back any codes.

when you purchased the vehicle did you have this all checked out by your auto repairer...

the fluid , dtc, and pan debris usually reveals the extent of failure...

I would contact a recommended repair shop and have this checked out...before you condemn the tranny..
