I haven't gone through all the gtr videos posted recently, so this may have already been pointed to: GTR at Paul Ricard -- http://www.garaget.org/video/16105

I like seeing how in this video, and the one above, you can see the wheel nibble at the driver, and the gear-change seems so light and precise.

Great finds Sami.

Noticed #05R in the opening title sequence bit, wearing the Cesar livery, but haven't spotted it in the race so far.

Did it race at Suzuka? Didn't they revert back to the black and red livery after Le Mans as well? This when the Cesar livery was redone and not matched up to the original?

Edit - It's behind the EB110 as the safety car comes out. So cool to see an EB110 on the track as well.

The Phillipe Charriol livery never reappeared on #05R after Le Mans 1995. It competed in two races during the remainder of that year (Suzuka and Zhuhai) both times wearing the Cesar livery.

Then the following year it came back in Pink/Black with Italjet sponsorship. I'm sure DocGTR or a few others can expand on this.

^^^^

Yeah, Erik was faster to reply to this, but correct - 05R had the Philippe Charriol Watches livery only till the LM'95. LM'95 untill the end of BPR'95 the Cesar Alien livery and then BPR'96 #8 in the various pink/black Italjet/City Hotels/etc. livery (as well in LM'96 pre-qualifying as #41) and FIA GT'97 #25 (LM'98 pre-qual #38) in the tile/raptor/"what ever" yellow/blue livery. After that it has been spotted in that retro LM'95 livery since at least around 2007.

Even though the PCW livery (pink/dark blue metallic) was really nice (one of the best seen on a GTR), I think the Cesar Alien is the one that should be kept on it, as it is the most striking one. I hope the current owners acknowledge this and will keep that livery even it's not the easiest one to re-do in a full restoration. The other liveries can "continue their lives" in the scale models. Even though this particular chassis was not the most successful, it had some very nice liveries, but still I hope the most memorable would be kept on it - the Cesar Alien!

Just to reset your history a bit - this was #05R at the Louis Vuitton Classic in 2001. I think the restoration of the Cesar livery happened slightly prior to that event.

I also thought they were older photos but as I checked the EXIF data of the files and I couldn't find any earlier data on them as many of them didn't have the date or other info at all so I went for the oldest I found for quick reply. Yes, I was sure that that some of those had been circulating before as I had seen some of them around 2004/05, but better to keep it as sure as you can prove it! ;)

Sometimes it is difficult making an accurate recording history well after it has happened. I'm sure you know this. :)

I had the benefit of having some of those images on my PC dating back to December 2001. Here's one more source as well:

Yep! Now there is all Suzuka 1000km races, where we saw GTR McLarens running by factory teams. 1995-1997, all will find on Youtube!:lol2:

And what comes that #05R future livery, it should be the Cesar defenitely. The history tells that, it was one of the 5 GTR's which finnished the race; longside #01R. So no questions, if you ask me.

PS. that EB110 Bugatti was great to see. I remember it was some private driver who run the car, not many races but atleast in Suzuka. I don't remember had it 4 wheel drive.

Yep! I have said this many times; this is it; what real supercar should sound like. The gear change - is the thing. It's missing todays supercars totally. And that is a big deal!
I just love this; big V12 with manual gearbox is perfect!
That brutal low roaaarr sound is just so fantastic.!

Fortunately; Classic V12 Lamborghini's like Diablo example; gives these same kind of feelings. Same low brutal roaaarr trought the rews cutted with gear change break and again that low brutal roaaaarrr.....
I just love, Bizzarrini's V12 and S70/2, never get enought these two engines!

You are sitting inside an un-sound-proofed ex-racecar with a straight cut gearbox not far from you and the whine from inside the car will try to drown out the sound of the engine - the higher the revs, the more the gearbox whine [hence the need for headphones]

You don't get to hear the gearbox sound so much if you are outside the car, as the engine noise from the exhaust drowns it out :)
