03 Suburban Tranny IssuesJayeJL 12-23-2008, 11:16 PM I have an 03 LT (140K mi) with the 4L60 transmission. She doesn't go offroad and has never towed anything. I replaced the shift solenoids at 97,500 miles. I've noticed that when I start her up cold, I get some hesitation shifting from first to second for about two minutes. Has anyone else had this problem? Can I get away with replacing the solenoids, or am I looking at a rebuild? discnik 12-24-2008, 02:37 AM Is the hesitation longer than 1 second ? When you say cold, how could is the ambient temperature ? TSB # 03-07-30-007E, says that a 1 second hesitation, if the outside temp. is 32 F or colder is normal, until the trans. fluid warms up to insure smooth shifting based on different sensor inputs. j cAT 12-24-2008, 12:53 PM I have an 03 LT (140K mi) with the 4L60 transmission. If it is below 40deg f on a cold start up , your transmission will have a delayed up shift ...if it is zero deg out you will surely believe your transmission is broken..this is normal ...and if you live in a warm climate like miami, fla. I would have a diagnostic done..it is possible the transmission temp sensor is out of cal... since you have an 03 model I would also replace the transmission fluid with the new dexron VI......don't use dexron III....any more.. JayeJL 12-24-2008, 04:42 PM discnik, I live in Miami...the ambient temp has been a little lower lately, about 67 in the mornings. I don't know if that would make much of a difference, though. Thanks for the TSB info. JayeJL 12-24-2008, 04:44 PM j cAT, Thanks, I'll try the diagnostic. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
