Got to work on this, my last customer project for a while (taking a "break")...

Need to convert the Z28 body to a regular Camaro. It has T-Tops (dammit Revell, I'd love just ONE F-body that doesn't have them), which I've started to fill in there. Also ground down the fender vents, and cut off the rear spoiler.

If its a T top car why did you fill them in?

The real car does not have T-Tops. The Revell kit does.

Ahh, yes! I love it! It will be interesting to see this done. What kind of wheels does he have on it? You are on the east coast, right? Do you know where he races? I certainly don`t see that kind of scenery at the tracks around here. :grinno:

Look like Weld Centrelines. I happen to have an aftermarket set sitting right here. :D

Bunch more body work done... final sanding will be soon, then I'll shoot it. Z28 hood scoop had to be sanded off, and I've mocked up the rivet-on cowl hood that he has on the car there. Also had to sand off the Z28 fender vents, and reduce the degree of flare to the front nose piece, as his car is just a regular Camaro, not a Z28. Also filled in the t-tops of course, and grinded off the spoiler on the back, filling it in as well. Looks like a "plain Camaro" now.

Also got started on the interior, a collection of flat and semi-gloss blacks, with black flocking, and a piece of thin sheet styrene for the rear firewall where the back seat used to be. Rollcage is styrene rod, heated and bent with a candle to match the real car.

Well I sprayed it with "dark cherry red" which is what he said the colour was... His looks more purple though, and this is more red... I'll respray if he wants me too, but I still think it looks good. Also got most of the engine assembled and wired, and the interior completed, with black flocking, drag racing bucket, and the rollbar made of styrene tubing. Dash was cut out of a NASCAR stocker and detailed.

Nice job, i have the same project going for my gfs grandpa, but the front wheel well flares got me stumped. I think i might have to cut them out and use styrene. I noticed you didn't bother correcting them, i think i might take that route as it involves more extensive work.

Either way nice job, the customer should be happy with it.

Actually I did, I just couldn't get it done 100%. I heated the front of the fenders and bent them inward, then radius the wheelwell to match. I've achieved smaller flares, as opposed to the big ones. Customer seems to like it and mentioned he may run a Z28 nose in the future anyway.

Your 67 vette's are great. how did you get that beautifull shine on the body? I'm just starting in this hobby and i have always been a motor head and have had many corvettes in my life. Any information or let me know where i can find it, would be great.Thanks, James jhill144@triad.rr.com
