I have a 96 plymouth gran voyager 3.3L v6 my transmission don't shift from first gear it goes fine in reverse but went i put it to drive don't shift from first i did few thing i change the filter the and transmission fuild also i change both speed sensor and still doing the same and now the speedometer don't work either.
if anyone have an idea what is wrong or how to fix it. thank you

yes the check engine light on. also i put to the scaner and i get the code p1698 no transmission ccd message

probably best going to the dealer

Did you use ATF+4 fluid????

Check the wiring connection at the solenoid pack for moisture, tranny fluid or looseness. Also take the connector off the TCM and check for corrision.

Do a search using limp mode and you may find some more tips.

My EATX relay went south on me one time back. Transmission went into limp mode. I took it to a WELL KNOWN auto transmission shop & it took them a hole day to tell me it was an "electrical problem". They wanted to keep it another day so that they could determine what was wrong. I decided to take it home.

At the house I realized I did not her the usual noises from the solenoid pack when I shifted it into gear. I swapped the relay with the fuel pump relay & it would BARELY idle. I went to the auto parts store & purchased a new relay, about $7.00. Was back to normal!

The ATX relay was defective, When I swapped it with the fuel pump relay it was not getting enough voltage to the fuel pump.

no I did not use atf+4 but i 'm going to change to see what happen .

this is not a fluid, or mechanical issue it is an electrical issue

No matter what is causing his problem, he certainly needs to get whatever wrong fluid was used out of there and replace with atf+4 (or +3, if there is any available.) Anything but either of those fluids will kill the tranny for sure, if it isn't already.

what kind of fluid did his use...its says what fluid to use right on the dipstick????

Peter, You raise a good point. I only use dealer transmission and P.S. fluids in my cars. I've been burnt in the past and so it's worth a little extra money for peace of mind. Only exception, was that when I flushed my vovlo's tranny, I uses mobel 1 synch. stuff. That's because the dealer said it was better.
