86 pickup has sloppy clutchcantley88 12-19-2008, 10:51 AM I've got an 86 gmc pickup, not exactly sure the modle, all decals were removed by the previous owner. The clutch has been giving me trouble lately. When I get in first thing in the morning and press on the clutch to start the truck, there is no resistance from the clutch pedal and I can't get the truck into gear. However, I've found out that if I pump the clutch about 25 times it seems to start working and it shifts through gears just fine. Would this tell me there is a hydraulic system powering my clutch? And if so, how would I resolve this problem? MagicRat 12-19-2008, 12:15 PM Let's assume this thing has a hydraulic clutch. Have you checked the clutch fluid level? There is a clutch master cylinder beside the brake master cylinder. Remove the cap and have a look. If the level is low, top it up with brake fluid. cantley88 12-21-2008, 05:21 PM Thankyou, I'll check that. Do I buy clutch fluid, or is it just brake fluid? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
