01 grand caravan little heatdacdd 12-15-2008, 08:19 PM I have a 01 caravan SE. The heat stopped working last week. Heres whats going on. The vehicle seems to start fine and run great. The temperature gauge is at the nominal between hot and cold, and gets to that point normally it would seem. \ \ The problem is the heat. It doesnt blow anything at idle, and blows more and more as I drive faster. At highway speeds, it blows a little air, but the air its blowing is defintaly hot. I am not sure whats going on. Car gets hot, blows hot air, but you have to be going fast for it to blow anything. Idle to about 30 mph, it blows nothing. RIP 12-16-2008, 02:19 PM Are you saying the blower doesn't blow any air until the van is at speed or are you saying the blower is blowing cold air until the van gets up to speed? tbuckit1 12-27-2008, 05:45 PM Is your blower fan even working?? Sounds like your getting nothing but the air coming through the fresh air system. tempfixit 12-27-2008, 06:12 PM Sounds to me like coolant level is low creating air pockets in the system. Have you checked the coolant level in radiator and reservoir? padco 12-27-2008, 09:19 PM have an 2002 that seemed to have the same problem - in my case the fan worked but no heat, after two dealer thermostats (ouch) the problem turned out to be the water pump / after replacement it worked fine. good luck... padco wolfdog46 12-28-2008, 07:59 PM I have the same problem with my 94 Voyager. I put a thermostat in it 2 weeks ago & all was fine, BUT about a week later I checked the radiator & filled it to the top with 50/50 coolant & also filled the reserve. I was told that there was too much water in it & it could not flow properly thru the system. I used a baster to get as much out of the reserve & radiator as I could set. It seems to be doing better , but only about 75% the heat I used to get, but as I said , it is getting better. rcsteffen 12-28-2008, 10:49 PM Either your blower motor has quit, or the blower motor resistor is bad (more likely the resistor which is good since it's much cheaper). Both my Dodges have gone through this. tbuckit1 12-29-2008, 09:27 AM Either your blower motor has quit, or the blower motor resistor is bad (more likely the resistor which is good since it's much cheaper). Both my Dodges have gone through this. That's exactly what I was going to suggest, resistor is about 20 bucks at CarQuest. $13.78 online, plus shipping. Easy to change out also.
