clutch noise escort mk6 1.8jbbootlegs 12-12-2008, 03:04 PM hi wen i press the clutch pedal in it makes a noise, could it be the bearings and are they easy to change and expensive??? uk model ford escort lx 1.8 16v thank you AzTumbleweed 12-12-2008, 03:50 PM Probably throwout bearing. Mine did that for awhile then got quiet again. jbbootlegs 12-13-2008, 06:46 AM would you know if it will effect the mot?? jbbootlegs 12-13-2008, 06:56 AM and is it easy to sort out yourself, Davescort97 12-14-2008, 02:16 AM No it won't affect the mot. You'll have to remove that transmission to sort it out. Selectron 12-14-2008, 02:16 AM The MOT test doesn't involve the clutch, so no need to worry as far as that's concerned. I have the opposite symptom on my Mk.5b diesel estate - something is a bit noisy when the engine is idling in neutral with the clutch engaged (clutch pedal up) but when I disengage the clutch (clutch pedal down) the noise stops. I've never had to work on the Escort clutch though so I don't know much about it. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
