Illinois Governor Blagojevich Corruption Scandal and Obama Calls for His ResignationBNaylor 12-11-2008, 07:50 PM Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich was recently indicted and arrested on Federal corruption charges on trying to sell Obama's vacated Senate seat to the highest bidder. This is sad. Man, the audacity of this nutjob. If he does not resign then he should be impeached. President Elect Obama calls for his resignation and is obviously distancing himself from Blagojevich. He'd be out of his everloving mind not to. Sounds like Blag's old lady is a real piece of work, too. :eek7: ericn1300 12-11-2008, 10:09 PM Blagojevich should have just put the seat up on Ebay and been up front about it. 03cavPA 12-11-2008, 10:18 PM It was listed on ebay for a short time, but it's gone now. http://www.journalgazette.net/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20081210/NEWS03/812100249/-1/NEWS09 Last updated: December 10, 2008 12:01 p.m. Illinois Senate seat goes up on eBay Associated Press CHICAGO – For sale: One Senate seat. Goes to the highest BLEEP-ing bidder. Seller's positive feedback rating: since Tuesday, just about zero. Outraged by the arrest of Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, more than a dozen people have put the state's vacant Senate seat up for bid on eBay. The offers popped up on the Internet auction site after Blagojevich was accused Tuesday of trying to benefit financially from his power to appoint a Senate replacement to President-elect Barack Obama. Daniel Finnegan, a student at the University of Georgia, said he started an auction because he's "extremely upset about what happened" and wants to voice his opinion. Finnegan says he's glad others posted similar auctions so the accusations against Blagojevich don't go unnoticed. .................................................. .... Then he claims to have had nothing to do with it and throws 'em under the bus. Happened with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, Rev Wright, Tony Rezko, Bill Ayers, his own Grandmother, and the list goes on and on.... Why should Blagojevich be any different??? They'll probably just remove him from office rather than impeach him. If they impeach him that would require a trial, and Lord knows something will come out that ties back to Obama that they can't cover up. Did you ever wonder why, in the two books Obama wrote, that he never once mentioned his own Mother??? Kind of strange don't you think? And in "Dreams of my Father"... (his Father left him when he was 10 years old). How could a 10 year old kid be aware of, or remember his fathers dreams? Just like the Clintons, $20M for "memoirs" but get 'em in a court room and they can't remember shit. I wonder when people are going to wise up, the writing has been on the wall for YEARS. You can take the politician out of Illinois corruption, but you can't take the corruption out of the Illinois politician. Hold your wallet, we're in for a helluva ride! thegladhatter 12-22-2008, 10:33 AM President Elect Obama calls for his resignation and is obviously distancing himself from Blagojevich. [/i] Kinda reminds you of Bill Clinton/Bart Simpson.... "I didn't do anything. Nobody saw me do anything. You can't prove anything." HotZ28 12-22-2008, 02:53 PM Now that BO has the Wild Willie clan in his fold, even if he was involved, I am sure Willie will offer some words of wisdom! These two were legendary! I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Ms Lewinsky. ... It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is. If the--if he--if 'is' means is and never has been, that is not--that is one thing. If it means there is none, that was a completely true statement....Now, if someone had asked me on that day, are you having any kind of sexual relations with Ms. Lewinsky, that is, asked me a question in the present tense, I would have said no. And it would have been completely true. :loser: BNaylor 12-31-2008, 11:43 AM Wow! This is a bold move by Blago. He is either the smartest politician in Illinois or the dumbest. It never ceases to amaze me how the "race card" argument is raised. I'm glad the Democratic Senate Caucus and Obama have denounced him. "Unclean hands doctrine". It won't matter if the appointment is procedurally correct or not, the dog and pony show is going to get trotted out on center stage for this one. I guess we'll see if blackness trumps all political wrongs and misdeeds. To be fair, it's not Burris' fault, but he also has a record of giving money to Blago's political machine. Not much, but it's on record. Anyone that was paying attention last November saw THAT one coming a mile away! Nothing new about that, name one politician that came thru with all he promised during the election. But I thought this thread was about Blag. old_master 01-13-2009, 09:58 PM Usually that's an observation made by the people after the term runs out. This clown is admitting it before he even takes office! Just shows his inexperience, that's all. There'll be plenty more displays of inexperience...at our expense. drunken monkey 01-14-2009, 11:26 AM wait, so you're not liking that he is telling the truth? BNaylor 01-14-2009, 12:31 PM wait, so you're not liking that he is telling the truth? He is entitled to his opinion(s) just like the over 57 million Americans that did not vote for him. There is a big difference between flip flopping and telling the truth. Wait 'til you see what the big "O" has in store for us relative to Iraq and Afghanistan. We're getting new op orders here. On promises G.W. Bush did keep the U.S safe and from no further terrorists attacks on our soil since 9/11. What Obama can do remains to be seen. And speaking of the bleeding heart liberal anti-war types or people that normally speak up or overtly outspoken in this forum I'm surprised no one has mentioned the recent actions by Israel in the Gaza. drunken monkey 01-14-2009, 06:20 PM So Obama is not allowed to change his mind or tell the truth? I've never understood your nation's obssession with the notion that changing your mind on issues is automatically a bad thing. Is it called flip-flopping (a media termed phrase I should point out) when it doesn't suit you but educated decisions when it does? Would it be prefered if he didn't change his mind no matter new information comes to hand, or change accordingly but lie about it? Would the "experienced" course of action to have been to lie about it? For the sake of the discussion, what things has he said he will not be able to carry out? BNaylor 01-15-2009, 08:06 PM For the sake of the discussion, what things has he said he will not be able to carry out? The flip flopping issue on Obama is an old discussion and we have covered that over and over. To start we will have plenty of time in the future to discuss Obama and whether what ever he applies works or doesn't. Also, keep in mind he will need the support of Congress which includes the minority party Republicans. BTW - Flip Flops are used commonly in electronic digital circuits and follow Boolean logic. Politicians don't. If you want to discuss Obama further then please start a new thread. BNaylor 01-26-2009, 12:22 PM Man, talk about a person being delusional. :shakehead Blago's impeachment trial is scheduled to start at the Illinois State Senate today but instead of attending it he goes out on a publicity stunt campaign by going on talk shows. And he has the nerve to compare himself with Mandela, Martin Luther King and Gandhi. :screwy: Source: CNN Blagojevich makes TV rounds as impeachment trial set to begin "And then the day unfolded and I had a whole bunch of thoughts -- of course my children and my wife -- and then I thought about Mandela, Dr. King, Gandhi and tried to put some perspective in all of this, and that's what I'm doing now."
