Hi I have a 1999 XJ8. I disconnected the battery (negative terminal only) to do some work and I closed the trunk. I tried to open the trunk with the key but something is jammed in there and I cannot get the key to work. Where can I hook up a jumper so that the trunk release from inside the car will work? Thank you Dennis

I hope you've already found a solution, because it's been awhile.
You can connect the + cable to the lug where the heavy, insulated positive lead connects to the alternator - be carefull not to bridge to ground with the clamp. Then connect the ground cable to any handy bare metal (including the ground strap to the alternator).
In some vehicles the lead to the starter can be used as well (not so much on an XJ8).
