Okay seriously? Just drained the oil, not to much of a headache. But is it even humanly possible to get the oil filter off? It's the one that's on the underside of the engine (more like sandwiched smack dab in the middle of it) a little farther toward the passenger side. Can just barely get the wrench snuggled way up in there but can't get any torque on it cause it's so cramped. Anybody have any help for me

Does it have the Ecotec engine? If it is the Ecotec, you have to buy a special oil filter socket. Most parts stores do sell it.

It's a 2.2. Doesn't have the Ecotec engine.

Stand on the passenger side of your car, reach down from the top. Your arm is going to make almost and L-shape. Cover your exhaust flex pipe with a plastic bag before hand, cause oil drips right into it and it will take a couple days for it all to burn off.

If you car is on a lift you can also go though the wheel well. It is possible to go through the bottom, but there is no where for the oil filter to get through the exhaust and oil pan gap. (Been there, tried that)

Going from top is best.

On a hoist I usually loosen them through the wheel well. I have seen my brother change them from the top.
