95 maxima timing chainluminasrus 11-07-2008, 02:12 PM I have a noise coming from the timing chain cover of wifeys maxima, it has 145000 miles so that is probably not unexpected, but a quick look it looks like you can't remove the cover with the engine in the car. Am I missing something? Nahkapohjola 11-08-2008, 02:30 AM I have a noise coming from the timing chain cover of wifeys maxima, it has 145000 miles so that is probably not unexpected, but a quick look it looks like you can't remove the cover with the engine in the car. Nozama 11-27-2008, 08:42 AM The chain doesn't need to be replaced, you need to replace the oil driven chain tensioner. It's replaced through the left hand black cover on the timing cover, the right hand cover is the water pump which you may as well do at the same time. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
