92 Accord brake lightbpolley 11-07-2008, 12:53 AM OK, my 92 had its power booster go bad so I replaced the master cylinder and the power booster. Now when I start the car the brake light comes on. It does go off after a short time. I did bleed the brakes as well. Is it possible that I have air in the system still causing this light to come on? I did a manual bleed on the car. I did not have someone pressing the pedal either. I actually used one of the one person tools I got from Auto Zone. Or is it a possibility that my power booster is bad again (possible internal leak)? The pedal is not mushy so I don't think it is air in the system, but I am at a loss and cannot find anything in my books regarding this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. mpumas 11-07-2008, 01:16 AM Which brake light? The emergency brake light or the failed brake light indicator. bpolley 11-08-2008, 12:24 AM e brake. mpumas 11-08-2008, 12:58 AM The emergency brake light will come on with the emergency brake handle pulled, low brake fluid or a problem with the anti-lock brake lock control unit. I would re-bleed the brakes using another person pushing the pedal and ensuring that the master cylinder always has fluid. There is also a test unit connected to the ground side of the light which might cause it to come on when starting the car. I'll check tomorrow on my car. bpolley 11-08-2008, 10:27 AM Definitely has fluid and the brakes are fresh. Just did them then this started happening. I thought the same thing about rebleeding them first. Brakes are not mushy though. After I bled them the book says if you have ABS not to do it because there is a special tool or something you need. Is this true? I never heard of that. Let me start by what I did do maybe this will help some. Master cylinder, power booster, brakes front and back, and bled the system. Literally everything. Fluid is holding fine, no leaks, no funny wear on new pads and shoes. Thanks bpolley 11-08-2008, 10:30 AM When bleeding the brakes again, should I have the car running to ensure proper vacuum and pressure is applied or should I just have them push on the pedal and be done? I know dont let the person let off the brake until I close the bleed screw! OK I just drove the car. I only have one brake light. When I pull the e brake, the light illuminates brighter so I know brakes are not sticking. I thought possibly the e brake was sticking. But I never felt a drag either. Just another factor eliminted is all. The light use to go fairly quickly now it does not go out at all. My son drives this car daily and I dont so I had to go out for a drive in it myself in hopes to figure it out. somick 11-08-2008, 02:08 PM When bleeding the brakes again, should I have the car running to ensure proper vacuum and pressure is applied or should I just have them push on the pedal and be done? I know dont let the person let off the brake until I close the bleed screw! From what I know you suppose to SLOWLY pump brake pedal untill it becomes firm. Than you tell the second person at the bleeder to open it. The pedal suppose to go down. Do not let your foot off the pedal. Keep pushing untill the person at the bleeder closes it. Than you pump brakes again. And I think engine should not be running. There was a recall for 98-02 Accord for a sticking float in the strainer. Could it be your problem as well? Sam bpolley 11-08-2008, 05:29 PM My problem has been solved. It was something I never would have thought. My master cylinder cap went bad. The LX and DX models do not have ABS brakes but the cap has a sensor in it. The sensor goes bad you get a light. Go figure. $55 dollar fix where the shop would have cost a couple huindred I am sure.
