The left turn signal on my 99 escort blinks very fast, right signal is normal. Front left bulb is lighted and blinks (although fast) but rear does not light. I checked the bulb and it is fine (swapped it with good right rear bulb.)

I assume there is only one relay so like the fuse, the fact that one side works wouold rule that out as a cause. Any ideas?

Thanks much

check the ground on the side that isn't working. The bulb and relay appear to be fine, so the problem is in the wiring somewhere between the realy and the bulb.

I think you checked the wrong bulb. I"ve done it myself many a time. Try a new bulb. I'm almost 100% sure that your bulb is just burned out. The stop ground shares the same ground as the turn signal. Replace the bulb and see if the stop lamp lights. If it does then your ground is all right. If it doesn't you do have a bad ground or a open in the turn signal wire.

Well idiot moi!

Thanks Davescort97. I did check the wrong bulb. I do a lot of work on all of my cars, this is a good reminder not to quit my day job when I think I've got more skills than I actually have.

Thanks again.
