My friends 96 Malibu seems to have lost its overdrive,just started one day,was working fine.Is there an electronic switch that controls this,or something I can check.Thanks.

This could be a solenoid issue it could also be internal, only a full trans. scan will diagnose this properly, BTW not Autozone either.
