Taking the crankshaft pully off a 1.3cal058 10-31-2008, 12:25 AM Just a couple questions. I have a 2000 1.3 and my book tells me if the motor is in the car, I need to remove the center crank bolt. If the motor is out, all I need to do is take loose the five smaller bolts. My question is, why the differance. I have read that the center bolt can be a pain to get loose. Also, I had a someone tell me that the noise I here from that area is because the pully is comming apart. Has anyone else had this problem? Other then trying to get the crank bolt loose, it doesn't seem to be a big job. fubard 10-31-2008, 01:34 AM I just took the pulley off my 2000 1.3L. It's a very tight fit. You can just remove the 5 bolts 1 at a time by rotating the crank. Then to remove the pulley I place a jack under the oil pan with a piece of wood to protect it then snug up the jack and remove the 2 bolts holding the front left motor mount. Once the mount is released you can raise/lower the motor to get the pulley out. Good luck Just a couple questions. Now all I need to do is find a replacement pully. Hope I dont have to go to the dealer for it. Thanks again, Carl fubard 11-10-2008, 07:41 PM Out of curiosity what happened to the pulley? You should .be able to find a pulley at the wreckers.I have a good relation with our local wrecking yard that has a few metros in stock. You should seek out a decent wrecker and try not to haggle too much. I pay some quite low prices. Good Luck Lowering the engine worked great. thanks for the info. This is the second car I have had this happen to. My 98 1.3 did the same thing. I had got one of a 97 1.3 and they are diferent. The 97 and earlier are a lighter pully. It looks like the newer ones are also balanced. The 5 bolt holes and the size of the pully looks about the same. No one in my area had anything this new to pull parts off so I ended up going to the dealer. ouch!! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
