Issues starting

Bare with me while I try and explain my issue. I have a 92 jeep wrangler with about 300,000 miles. When i went to start it this morning it wouldn't start. All the gauges came on, but the car wouldn't turn over. I tried to pop the clutch but it's hard to push that car in 3" heels. Anyways, when I tried to start it again it made this weird crunchy, grinding noise. It sounded just like that noise you get when you try to start the car, and it's already running, oops. I think it might be the starter, but I'm not sure. Any help would be appreciated.

If you brought the key fully back to the off position in between each attempt to crank, then it's probably a symptom of a bad starter. Try tapping the starter a bit with a hammer. If it works, it's only a temporary fix, but then you'll know it's definitely a starter.
