Scooter problem (trouble giving too much throttle)cssteve2 10-27-2008, 06:23 PM So when I'm driving 50 cc my scooter, basically it starts fine and runs fine to a certain point - but if i give it too much throttle the engine bogs down or stalls out or something and i have to let off the gas, and then give it more gas or it dies. It just started doing this, and instead of being able to go the usually ~30 mph, it only gets about 15-20 mph before giving more gas causes it stall out. It's a pretty new scooter, I bought it in august. It's a motobravo 4 stroke 50 cc scooter. Anyone have any idea what the problem could be?? richtazz 10-29-2008, 12:36 PM :uhoh: I hope Blayne doesn't see this thread, he HATES scooters! It sounds like the automatic clutch is not working properly aussieidiot 10-29-2008, 02:59 PM I thought some one was joking. I mean who ever thought of a scooter with "too much throttle" Just kidding mate. welcome to the forums. it a long running joke about me and scooters. I'd say it could be fouled plugs or bad fuel too. Jeffcoslacker would be your best bet. he's got a lot of mechanical experience. MagicRat 10-29-2008, 03:42 PM I presume its a carb, as nobody has an EFI 50cc scooter - yet. Possibly you have some dirt in the carb float bowl or fuel line which is restricting fuel flow. Your bike may have a sediment bowl or a filter in the fuel line, which need to be cleaned out or replaced respectively. The float bowl should be removable. A bit of carb cleaner and possibly a bit of compressed air wil clean up the bowl and the jet(s). However, carbs are quite delicate and easily damaged. Be very careful or leave the repair to a professional if you have never worked on one before. Torch 10-30-2008, 11:37 AM Bogging down can be caused by... - Air filter is clogged. - Engine is getting too much fuel. - Ignition system is giving too weak of a spark to properly ignite the fuel in the cylinder. - Choke system is not fully opening; which leaves you with a bad air/fuel ratio and can cause too much fuel to be getting into the cylinders. MagicRat 10-31-2008, 12:14 AM - Choke system is not fully opening; Doh!! Thats a good one to check first. aussieidiot 11-01-2008, 02:08 PM maybe he should upgrade to the 5 port 150cc motor!:banghead: richtazz 11-03-2008, 10:47 AM maybe he should upgrade to the 5 port 150cc motor!:banghead: OMG Blayne, that is frickin' HILARIOUS!!!!
