'01 Accent dies while drivingjaredonfilm 10-25-2008, 05:15 PM hi, I have a 2001 Accent 1.5L that dies after about 10 mins of driving. The car then turns over but wont restart until about 30 mins later. any ideas? serge_saati 11-19-2008, 04:50 PM According to lowsonoma1999, "it is shutting down when it gets hot, and then when it cools off, it starts working again." It can be a problem with the ignition coil. When the engine heat, ignition coil heat too, and coil resistance increase. It causes a lack of spark. Voltage decrease (under 30000V). Check your spark color. Blue or orange? It could also be the ignition control module. When your engine heat, module heat, and electronic chips stop working, because they're hot. So check your ignition. It's easy. WILLIE_64 12-19-2008, 09:38 AM MY 1996 1.3LSi has the same problem.. to check the ignition? how? just remove a plug and crank over? cheers willie serge_saati 12-19-2008, 02:46 PM No, remove the wire from plug, then crank over. If not, you can be sparked. Then you can check the plug with a continuity tester. It can be also a fuel injection, throttle body or engine control system problem (PCV valve, EGR vavle...), more hard to diagnostic. Check the air filter also. May be dirty. But do the ignition test when engine is very hot, if not it's useless. So juste remove the wire from plug and test ignition. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
