Grinding and Squeaking

My GF recently purchased a '98 Amigo, 4 cylinder, manual trans. At very random times it makes this horrible grinding sound...coming from the rear passenger side. It will not do this while sitting still so I am unable to pinpoint the sound.

There is also a wierd squeaking sound coming from the engine on the driver's side. It will make this sound while sitting still, but is also very difficult to pin point.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
