I have an '01 Tahoe, and I'm thinking about doing a cat-back exhaust system to replace the single exhaust tip out the right side, and make a dual exit rear exhaust. I've searched on the internet as well as ebay and the choices are plentiful. Now the question is,

Does anyone recommend one over another? If so, why? I'm looking for a good sound, but not one that will rattle my TV off the stand from a block away. Throaty is good, but not looking for :banghead: obnoxious. Here's what I've found:

Leaning towards Gibson, but still :runaround: undecided. Any other suggestions?

Thanks!!!

I have a 2001 'Hoe also. I put on a Magnaflow cat back and really like it. MY suggestion is to keep the end on the right side and not at the rear. Exhaust gas could creep in the back window. Better safe then sorry....IMHO.

I had the Gibson on mine with the dual side outlet. I was not too happy with it. Went with a flowmaster and kept the Gibson tailpipes. Pretty happy now. Still wish it was a little throatier though. It's not too loud at all. Just fine in the truck and down the block.

for the correct selection go to a performance/custom exhaust servicer..they will give you the info needed on what type and also the construction...

If this system is oem and s/steel I would recommend s/steel as a metal ...when installing always make allowances to reversre what changes are made this way if you don't like it you can go back at reduced cost and labor...

People who go with Flowmaster are generally happy. I have boring single stock exit tail pipe behind a 50 Series SUV Flowmaster muffler. VERY happy with it. It's hard to not floor it just to listen to the grumble. It has the nice deep growl us truck owners love, but doesn't get the cops called on me. The inside cab resonace isn't bad, louder than stock of course, but after a year I have yet to tire of it. Also grew to appreciate it better hearing someone else drive the rig, really sounds great!
