E-85 Damage

What kind of damage can occur to an engine and components from E-85 which was inadvertently added to the gas tank of my Toyota Highlander? The gas station had the wrong fuel in the tank.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. A buddy of mine runs E85 in his non-E85 vehicals and doesn't have a problem. How is it running?

Not well at all. Mileage dropped about 20% and there is no power on hills. Also engine light came on.

It won't cause any damage and what you describe is pretty common for a non-flex vehicle.

I suggest you run it and as soon as you're down an 1/8 tank keep filling it with regular gas. The more gasoline concentration you get the more it will run better until its back to normal.

About the worst thing that it will do is dissolve some O-ring seals in the fuel lines, but chances are such a new vehicle has compatible seals anyway. Document it in case you have a future battle, but I wouldn't worry too much.
