Hi all. I have no idea where to post this thread! This is why I just posted in the general section.

The hobby shop I had ordered from just informed me about a two-week delay on my order, so I had to stat something different. I started to scratchbuild a tool trolley in 1:24. Here are the pics of the original (with the original sizes in cm):

And another one, just to see the size compared to the tools.

I started out with the bottom part. The parts are made out of 0.5mm/0.20" styrene.

Before puttying:

After puttying, with upper skirt out of 0.25mm/0.10" styrene:

I moved to the upper part. The cover and the box full of putty:

This is the front, three drawers will be cut out:

The box, on the now sanded trolley. I achieved the loose fit that I was looking for and that the original demands:

Handles, locks, keys (thanks to matic176 for the tip, I'll build them just like that), and many other small parts will be painted separately and mounted afterwards. I'll also have to think about the hinges. I recently saw some out of stretched Evergreen tubes and brass rod, I think I'll give it a try.

Stay tuned!

I bought one of those cabinets a LONG time ago. The top of it is just a little bit larger than a scale auto enthusiast magazine. it's very small. I would not use a tool box that small to go to the salvage yard with.

Must say though, you are doing a pretty good job on it.

Hi,

shouldn´t it be possible, to make the trolley without putty ??

It should, but I'm kind of perfectionistic and my modeling skills aren't perfect st all so...

I fear that over time, the putty will shrink.
Also, too much putty might soften the plastic and cause it to warp.

The secret to "perfect" styrene work is measure twice, cut once and use a fresh blade.
