Removing hub and lug nut covers

I have an '03 Avalanche. I want to remove one tire. But I cannot find a way to remove the aluminum hub cover and the plastic thing under it that also covers all of the lug nuts. Sounds dumb, but I cannot find any notches that would allow prying it off with a screwdriver. I don't want to bend the cover or mangle the dark gray plastic thing that cover the wheel hub and lug nuts.
Basic user manual is of no help.

Help!

i would run it by your local tire shop.
They deal with stuff like that all of the time.
Good Luck

The plastic cover is held on by black or gray plastic "fake" lug nuts that actually thread over the real lug nuts (GM uses a special lug nut that has external threads to hold center caps on). They have normal threads (lefty loosey, righty tighty), and I'd suggest a 6-point socket to remove them.
