how much horsepower do i have?nitroelcamino 03-15-2003, 05:41 PM i just traded today for a 1986 rx7 gxl automatic. i have had many cars but it is the first rx7. i have no clue what the horsepower for it is. if anyone knows please post reply or e-mail. the car is not a turbo. ...... it only has 31000 original miles, runs great, and has a good body.. and i only gave $100.00 for it ( WHAT A GREAT DEAL ) blazed on haze :\ 03-15-2003, 07:05 PM u'd be lucky if it could do 100hp on a dyno. thankfully for about US$2000-3000 u can tripple or quadripple that figure and still have a reliable daily driver. and for god sakes, if u replace the engine get rid of that damn auto gearbox!! VR6Turbo 03-19-2003, 08:16 PM 86 is the first year that they made the 2nd generation. I cant remember if they changed anything on the engine or not. I believe that the non turbo was about 140 hp. Evomaniac 04-02-2003, 01:35 AM "Mazda RX-7 Second Generation 1986-1991 First Half 86-88 (Series IV) The 13B engine was the only size offered. Power was increased to 146 bhp. The Turbo II engine had 182 bhp." supposebly it has 146 and your car is used and old so I would say it has about 105 hp, most likely you should dyno it to see how much you get from it, I would advise you to change everything before the dyno test(spark plug's,wires, hoses, oil:very important!,and filter if necessary) to get the most out of the car, if you hink it's worth it to modify the car get a free flowing exhaust first then a aftermarket filter and etc. -Dave $ilverbullet 04-13-2003, 04:13 PM yes it should be around 145 or so. But also remember RX-7s are insanely light. Just a tad over 2000lbs I believe? teamspeednautik 04-17-2003, 03:45 PM yes, i agree with blaze, you should get rid of that gear box, nothings great about having an auto....
