I have a 1998 es300 that all of a sudden the trunk release button on the dash won't work. The gas tank release button right below it still works. Any ideas? Thanks

If you have already checked all fuses relating to trunk latch operation, your next step should be to test your trunk lock accuator to see if it has power.

The dash button itself could be worn out or the contacts inside covered in oxidation. Test to see if you are getting voltage to the button, too. Then go and test to see if you get voltage to the trunk actuator when you bypass the button with a test wire (do this only intermittently...have a friend watch the voltmeter).

Thanks for the help...I did get it to work. Now next problem....the front end has a noise that would seem like a shock or something. I found something about sway bar bushings online making a noise. Any advice or ideas?
