low oil pressure at 2k rpmdocksider 09-25-2008, 09:31 PM Need your help with isolating a trouble. Riding in a 92 Explorer V6 4.0 Automatic 4x2. When the tach reaches 2000 RPM the oil pressure gauge goes south. Anything below 2k the gauge seems normal. All feedback is appreciated shorod 09-25-2008, 09:45 PM The first thing I'd suggest is using a mechanical guage to see if the oil pressure switch is working. I'm not sure about the '92, but on the 2000 model year, the gauge is controlled by a switch. Literally, the gauge will either read zero or normal, there is no in between. -Rod docksider 09-25-2008, 10:05 PM Thanks Rod. You are right; the gauge will either read zero or normal. I closer I get to 2k the closer it gets to zero. I'll have to do more checking. Thanks again! docksider 10-20-2008, 09:59 PM Thanks Rod. You are right; the gauge will either read zero or normal. Now I can concentrate on the noise I hear (sounds like a servo motor) when I accelerate from a stop. Thanks again shorod 10-20-2008, 10:37 PM Glad to hear you got one issue fixed. Thank you for the follow-up! I wish everyone would follow-up when the figure out the fix to their issues. -Rod vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
