Help, 2000 new beettle, Radio won't work and has a message says 88.3 am "MAN"???seraphcynic 09-25-2008, 06:55 PM Hi, I changed my battery yesterday, and right after I changed it, my radio didn't work, and showed only 88.3 AM MAN. I tried to put the radio code in, however, no matter how hard I push the buttons, it won't go away. Please, help, help. s.c. Franco2112 09-27-2008, 10:52 AM Your radio needs a four digit # code number to enter. If it's not in your sound system operation manual you will have to get it from the dealer at no cost. You will have to give them the serial # that's at the driverside door next to the load rating sticker. It looks like this VWG852O795544114. If you can't locate the sticker have your cars VIN # ready and they can get it for you this way. When you have the code turn off, then turn on your radio. It should say SAFE. After 3 sec. the # 1000 will appear. Use the radio station preset buttons 1 to 4 to enter the code. One button for each number. After entering all numbers press the right side > of the seek button for longer than 2 sec. Your done. seraphcynic 09-29-2008, 01:05 PM Thanks so much for relpy. However, I had my Radio Code. the issue is that I can switch to the safe mode. it was stucked with AM88.7 forever, and without any voice. The dealer suggested me change the radio. I just wonder if there is anyway to go around. I can't afford it.Thank you.SC Franco2112 09-29-2008, 02:32 PM Have you tried disconnecting the battery again? It may reset that way. seraphcynic 09-30-2008, 02:25 PM let me try, but how can I turn off the battery? Should I go to dealer? Or ? Thanks. Franco2112 09-30-2008, 02:45 PM Simply disconnect your negative(black) battery cable first, then disconnect your positive(red) battery cable. Wait ten minutes, then connect positive(red) cable first, then negative(black) cable. If you are not comfortable in doing this by all means see the dealer. seraphcynic 09-30-2008, 04:12 PM Thanks so much, Soooo sooo Much:loser: Franco2112 09-30-2008, 04:21 PM Don't understand what you mean? seraphcynic 10-01-2008, 03:29 AM Thanks, Franco. it works. I just simply disconnected the battery, and reconnected it. And it works perfectly. Thanks so much, SC Franco2112 10-03-2008, 12:58 PM Great! I know how it feels not to have a radio while driving. Popsters 11-29-2008, 12:36 AM I had the exact same problem as seraphcynic, and was able to solve it in exactly the same way as suggested by Franco2112. Thanks for posting the question and answer, guys! :evillol: The dealer wanted to sell me a new radio for $350! :eek7: And they have been keeping me waiting for 6 weeks while they were supposedly ordering the new radio.
