R32 gets murdered?

So I killed a new R32 not too long ago... rather badly. I put probably 6 cars on it from a 40 to around 110, which is NOT what I expected to happen. He had some "heftier" people in the car, but we had three people and an HPtuners laptop :grinyes:

That is one sick car though, sounds very mean. My guess it was stock, maybe an intake, I couldnt be sure. He was a noob at racing as far as I could tell, but he was definately WOT the whole time. Maybe the Header/DP free up my 2.9 more than I expected?

Still, this was an unexpectedly large margin of victory. He had even jumped the first attempt from a 20, and within a few seconds I was pulling on him hard.

I am not surprised, especially if it was another roll race. VR4's are faster than the R33 stock for stock so if you were roll racing, AND it was only a R32, I could see it. Now go do some races from a dig. :D

Good kill though.

Edit: Oh, and I saw another R35 GTR around here two days ago. I really thought about chasing it down to see if I could get a run out of it but I just didn't have the ambition.

Well in a week i wouldnt do all that bad from a dig, with boost limited first gear and torque damper :) So I might pick on some WRXs from a stop to begin with.

I lack much ambition, too... I feel your pain.

R32 as in skyline or VW golf?

lol VW Golf. sorry I should have said that, I figured something was up when he said R33.

Ha we are talking about the golf! We dont get skylines here in Bismarck...I've seen one, and it was a conversion. But yes it was the newest generation golf r32, the driver was really cool

that's what i figured, especially when u said "new r32" but r33 and the GTR came up so i was like wtf. anyway those R32's are definitely some bad little cars. i'm not big on VW's but i'd rock one of them.

Inline 5s. dang they are beastly. One of those with bolt ons is an animal.

Lol, I don't know why, but VW never even came to mind when I posted back. I like the R32 Vdubs, cool cars.

Nice run. Don't think he was expecting that. Were you logging data at the time of the race? lol

Haha yeah we were logging. I was holding the laptop in the passenger seat.

I'd love to get that log, I want to start collecting different logs to compare with, be interesting to see how my 40-110 log looks against your 40-110. Though I don't think I've logged a 110 run, I usually stop at 100

Good kill, but not really surprising. A stock R33 is hardly that much faster than a stock Speed3 with a good driver, and I would put money down that you would put a bit of hurt on a stock Speed3.

We could definately get you a few of our 40-110 logs if you want!

And cassies, there should be a vid in my thread a few pages back of me with just stage 2 and cat-back against a stock speed 3 for comparison

MZR_47
09-24-2008, 10:59 AM
yeah I would put about 6-7 cars on a stock speed 3 if not more, I would imagine.

And I would be happy to send you that log, if you send me yours :D Do some comparing, maybe exhange tunes or sections of tunes. We are messing with boost limit in first if you would like that.

R32's are ~3600 lbs and ~250hp, I think ~236tq. Not very fast, but NICE to drive. Comfy and quick, nice interior.

Like most VR6's, they will get up and go with the usual bolt-on stuff (chip, cams, exhaust).

Needs a turbo kit to be a contender against the STI or EVO. And even then, it will never handle like those cars. It's more of a luxury car than a sports car, really.

But drive one if you get a chance, they drive very nice.

my car can beat Evos and STis, so I would think that simple bolt-ons would allow it to do the same. I think they are AWD too, and run low 14s high 13s stock, which is pretty fast in my book for an N/A VW. I do really like those cars though.

And at the time I will be willing to bet his car weighed 4300 pounds. :D

^^Just so were clear on all this talk of the Balts and Redlines beating everything........you mean in what? I know most people go off the fact that when you just say I can beat something it is generally taken as in the 1/4 mile run. If that be the case, driver for driver, I really don't see that. I visit SS/SC forums and from what I have seen Stage 2 drivers (even with a couple extra bolt-ons) tend to hit upper 13's. Both the EVO IX and STi have been tested to run low 13's and in a couple cases 12.9's bone stock. Maybe an EVO X coule be out run in the but otherwise, I just don't don't see it. And while I am sure your car's are quite the roll monsters, I don't think they would contend unless the race started at 40 or more mph. Just my .02

We generally mean from a roll. It takes us until a little past 100mph to run a stock EVO, STI, VR-4 down from a stop

I'm usually the slowest car at the track unless they're having a test and tune that day. I've seen the EVOs and STi's pullin low 13's and 12's I'm lucky to be in the high 13's. I have no delusions about how slow this car is :iceslolan . It is fun to drive though.....

^^Haha, I wouldn't sell yourself short, upper 13's isn't too shabby with a FWD car.

They are nowhere near 13-sec cars.

A stock R32 will usually run around a mid-14. Most magazines would get 0-60 in 6.0 and 1/4 in about 14.3 @ ~97mph.

Loaded down like it was, you were racing a mid-high15 second car at best.

Just FYI, most of my experience is with VW's (can't edit the post for some reason!).

4 Corrados, 2 Jettas, 3 GTi's. VW Vortex old timer since before it was called VW Vortex (~95 or so).

We are working on a 3.0L big valve head VR6 Turbo in my garage right now, it's my best friend's car. Hoping for reliable, daily driven ~325hp, tunable to ~450hp. Should be a monster...expect pics and vids around new year's. :smooch:

Agreed.

That's about the same ET and Trap my last G60 ran, and I would take EVOs and STI's from 40+ pretty easily. That's not a slow car, dude. :naughty:

There are guys out there with stage two and cooling who have pulled a 13.3 or better, so it all depends on the track conditions. The boost limit and torque damper is going to help tremendously.

But our cars are probably one of the worst traction problems out there, along with SRT-4s and anybody with a built to fuck engine on a RWD/FWD car.

1200whp Trans am on 325s cant even grab rubber with that kind of power, we have found out!

VR43000GT
09-25-2008, 10:27 AM
See that is the thing though, RWD can actually hook up a lot better than FWD. With all the weight shifting to the back the rear tires can catch more traction. Along with that, you can usually have larger tires in the back too without having them stick out of the wheel well.

MZR_47
09-25-2008, 10:37 AM
Thats why I said built to fuck. I dont care HOW big your tires are, 1200whp without AWD is asking for a disaster.

And I like em to stick out of the wheel well just a bit, I need to get a bigger offset for my next rims.

Not necessarily.

Funny Cars and Top Fuels hook up pretty damn well with 7,000hp.

You just have to know how to set up your suspension and tire choice with the power you're making, and realize that AWD or RWD or FWD, if the car is making 1,200hp+, it's NOT going to be a road course machine. It's gonna pretty much shine on a dragstrip. So you can set it up as such. :smooch:
