Recommendation: SAFE, reliable, decent MPG & Classy car???Xvolvo enthusiast 09-21-2008, 04:07 AM The brakes on recent Volvo models (2001 on) have just sucked (I don't know what the Volvo engineers are thinking- the brakes feel mushy, require a lot of force to brake, and don't allow you to stop quickly), so I've decided to stop buying Volvo :( (I've driven different models, and they're all pretty much the same). I liked volvo's because they are stylish, (were) safe, reliable and had decent MPG. I refuse to buy German (holdover from WWII grudge) (i.e. Mercedes, BMW, Audi) So ANY recommendations for a car that has similar good qualities? Safe, stylish, reliable, with decent MPG?? (above 20mpg for city and around 30mpg for city)) I'm thinking maybe Lexus?? I've been searching and racking my brains, but I can't seem to find one. It's unlikely to be an American brand- I've driven them and reliability is ALWAYS a problem past 50K. Help!!! Oldengineer 09-21-2008, 11:25 PM Suggest you got look at the Jaguar line - British built. I've had great service out of 2 of them. Regards: Oldengineer Ray paulsen 09-22-2008, 11:49 PM your a prize comming on this website, with your bull**** 1...
