2005 Malibu radio resets by itselfDoq 09-18-2008, 08:50 PM Overnight our 2005 Malibu Maxx resets the radio preset buttons to random stations. At first it was only the AM band, but now on all FM & AM bands. The dealer has replaced the radio 3 times. The time does not reset. Could it be different key FOBs or some bad electrical connection? Ideas? wpbharry 09-19-2008, 06:30 AM I know on the '04s like mine that each key FOB gets its own set of radio presets. Due to massive owner confusion (?), I thought that Chevy changed this on the '05s. At least they were supposed to. If the person driving the car first thing in the morning with another FOB is different than the last one to drive it (with their own FOB) the night before, there's your probable answer. Other than random "check DAB" messages related to XM, I really haven't heard about many troubles with last-gen radios. Doq 09-19-2008, 08:33 PM wpbharry - Thanks. The other key fob erased the presets. We are on the right track. Doq 09-21-2008, 07:14 PM We still have the problem. The radio presets are lost when either key fob is used. wpbharry 09-23-2008, 06:53 AM Yep, this might get pretty complicated. In addition to the radio being the culprit, it could also be the key FOBs. Both of my key FOBs died within a month of each other and, because I have the remote start feature on the FOBs, which adds circuitry complexity and drain, the dealer explained that the FOBs themselves actually bite the dust and not just the batteries. I'm still under Extended Warranty (GMPP), so that covered both new FOBs. Life of the FOBs is approx. 3-4 years. According to my dealer. Can't help if it's deemed to be the radio. My radio has not had any major issues. For sure, get a Chevy dealer involved in this one. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
