My 1998 camry (149K) had the check engine light on. It shows the code PO446.. My mechanic said that it was a problem with the vent solenoid. He also said that the car may come under toyota's extended warranty for evaporative systems. I was wondering how to check if my car qualifies for this warranty.. and what could be other problems associated with PO446. Also the fuel economy lately has been very poor. Is this due to the same problem?

Evaporative Emission System Vent Control Circuit

That what I got from the data base for code P0446.

I doubt that 10 year old vehicle will still be covered. Try to call a dealer and see what they say.

Good luck,

Sam

I would call Toyota corporate at 1-800-331-4331 and speak to customer service. Have your vehicle's VIN number handy to give them. Ask them if your car still qualifies under Toyota's extended warranty.

JFYI the warrenty government emmisions is 8 years or 80,000 miles
I know this is an old post.. thought I would throw this in, because
my 01 camry has 48,000 and the 8 years ran out in august,, guess what code I have, PO446 stupid me, has been on all summer, now inspection is up... emmisions covers the cataladec convertor sorry bout spelling
and the charcoal canister.. now looks like, I will have to pay out again,
unless there are some sugestions that I can try myself..
