I am in the middle of putting together a 72 Chevy C10 and am having some difficulty with the running lights. When the light switch is off the dash lights stay on dimmly and when I test for power at the light plugs I get power, but on both prongs rather than one power and one short, but the test light is very dim. When I turn the light switch on the dash lights get bright and so does the test light at the light plug, but there is still power to both prongs. In my troubleshooting I found that if I disconnect the wiring harness from the steering column the dash lights work and there is power to just one prong on the light plug, but the lights still don't work because it seems like there is no ground on the second prong. If anyone has any ideas of where I can start I would appreciate it. I can also be emailed directly at firstname.lastname@example.org

Check all your grounds.
