I am going to be getting my first car pretty soon, and was wondering what is a good first car? I was looking at Intrepids, but then I looked into it and it is common that they get a knocking sound in the engine. So, what kind of car should I look for?

EDIT: Forgot to say that my spending limit is about $3,000

Early to mid 90's model Honda's are really good cars if you research it too much you can find something wrong with everything but my first car was a Honda and I got like 300,000 miles on it before I traded it in for a new car. Never did any work to it except basic oil changes, and spark-plugs.
