1990 XJ "Neutral Slips"JCfromKC 09-09-2008, 10:53 AM Hey guys I have one that i simply just cant figure out. I have a 1990 XJ 4.0L (AW4 trans) - Problem is while driving that it "slips" like i shifted it into neutral, rpms jump to 3grand on the tack and almost a soon as it started its over. I have found that i can accellerate through the issue and it will stop also. I first though that it might be the Tranny so i replaced it, no dice problem still there, only think i can think of is possibly the kickdown cable may need ajusting or possibly the tranny computer module. Any ideas (anyone else have this problem) wwwildman 09-11-2008, 07:16 PM Test the MAP sensor before you look into the trans ECU. oTHERS SHOULD BE BY SOON to help also Mike knelleken 09-12-2008, 01:15 AM i think it might be to old for electronic control ? did you use the same torque converter in your new transmission? just throwing stones JCfromKC 09-17-2008, 03:26 PM I changed the torque converter with the Transmittion. I will try the MAP module and see if that does it before i change the ECU. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
