need to know what kind of amp

im buying two 12" rockford fosgate p2's 4 ohm subs.i need to know what amp should i buy that wont overheat and push these subs good,and i dont want to spend more than about $150 thanks.

there are quite a few for under $150 on sonicelectronix website.my friend has the same subs with a kenwood 1000watt amp and it hits hard but he had it overheat like 3 times and idk if i wanna go the same route.the amp he has was $130 but idk if its a good idea or not to buy one.and btw you didnt have to be rude. its a budget system im not rich :wink:

that is kinda cheap for a 1000 watt amp. There are plenty of amps in that power and price range to choose from but you typically get what you pay for. Usually overheating is caused by pushing the amp too hard, wrong speaker loads or poor ventilation.

theres a 600 watt amp from ma audio on there thats only $189.one of my friends has it pushing two 15's and its never overheated,so i might get that one.

I have the same subs, you ABSOLUTELY have to get close to 500watts RMS. Over powering or under powering your subs can cause damage!

underpowering subs does not cause damage, clipping an underpowered amp causes damage.

if underpowering them causes damage you would cause damage every time you turn the volume down.

Perhaps you should go talk to the heavy hitter SPL guys, they routinely put 4-5 times the rated power of the sub into it.
