1993 Nissan Altima stalls at red lights, What is it?wh23g3g 08-31-2008, 06:49 PM I've got a 1993 Nissan Altima 2.4 Automatic. With about 130,000 miles on it. It's recently had a valve cover gasket with tube seals, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air, and fuel filter. We recently replaced the distributor because I thought that's why it was stalling. The timing is fine it runs good, but after driving awhile it stalls when you stop at a redlight. Take a few mins to start back up with the gas. I thought maybe the coil or igntion control module/power transistor could be the problem. I warmed up for about 45 mins but I didn't want to drive it in case it stalls. Then I checked the power transistor with a voltmeter, it passed with flying colors. I then checked the coil. It passed the primary resistance was 5.1 ohms, the Primary to case winding showed infinite, but failed on the secondary resistance it read 15.1, the max was 12.5 listed in the repair manual. Before I left the house in another car, I checked it again and it had dropped to 14.73, that's after cooling off for about an hour. I never could get it stall just idling. Could this high resistance be the stalling problem? One other odd thing is when I revved up in park I noticed the temp gauge would fluctuate but just sitting still or driving, the needle is pretty stable. Any ideas on the stalling problem? walt03 09-02-2008, 11:12 AM Cone on guys give me some ideas!! This board has never let me down before on ther stuff. bracketshark 09-05-2008, 11:02 AM Any codes?
