Ok. Just rub it in, a "Diesel Cherokee". guess we Amaricans are just not good enough.
Good luck with your car seat search. No kids so, thats the last thing on my mind.

Alan,
As a father who has fitted many car seats, I might suggest you look at the type of seat you need and get it professionally installed.

There are 2 different kinds of car seats, the infant kind which are small, rear facing only and are good for infants up to about 9 months to 1 year old.
Some of these seats are easily removable and have a handle, so they are useful as infant carriers.
After 9 months or so, , you need to change to a front facing seat.
The other kind is a 'convertible' that can face either front or rearwards, depending on child size and age, and is good for children from 5 lbs to about 45 lbs.

Any kind of modern car seat will fit your Cherokee, but likely you need to make sure you have a proper anchor for the tether strap. If none exist on your car, the dealer can sell you a kit to install an approved anchor point(s) Note, you Around here (Toronto), the local police will happily inspect any car seat installation for safety and let you know of any deficiencies. I would expect your local police may do the same.
I have found sometimes deficiencies are not immediately apparent so an expert opinion is valuable.
