Recommeded Fuel/OctaneRwwatson 08-26-2008, 05:40 PM I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado (duh, I am in this forum) and would like to know if there is a "recommeded" fuel or octane for my truck? I cannot find anything in the manual. The truck was my sisters (who recently passed) and when driving it home, the "Service Engine Soon" light came on (ended up with error P0137, backside oxygen sensor). I was wondering if I was putting in the right gas. I put in Hi-Octane gas and some STP gas treatment, and when I had the error code checked, the light went off and has not come back on. A mechanic friend said it could be the gas (or catylitic converter, he is going to check later). But if it is the gas, I was wondering what I might be doing wrong. Anyone know, or know where I can find out? Thanks from a newbie here! ukrkoz 08-26-2008, 05:46 PM I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado (duh, I am in this forum) and would like to know if there is a "recommeded" fuel or octane for my truck? Thanks from a newbie here! no big deal. it's tuned for chevron. or texaco, does better on chevron. it's tuned for regular unleaded. on better gas prices, i used to prime it once in a while with midgrade octane, just for kicks. but no, supreme is not required. as of your SES light, i fixed mine easy: replaced fuel tank cap, reset the code, ran can of seafoam through the tankful. been a while. knock-knock. i had to cut the OEM cap off, as the screw that holds the retainer in place broke off right away. cheap bastards. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
