Window regulator replacement ?

My '99 Montana is suffering from the common worn out drivers side window regulator. The window goes down fine but for the past 6 months it has needed my help to go back up. It's now at the point where I have to struggle with it. I've already been through motions of lubricating the slider and making readjustments. It's now well beyong that point... The regulator needs to be replaced.
Since I've had the door panel off a couple of times during attempts to examine and fix the problem I can see that it might be a bit of a job to change out. The big spring looks intimidating. How much to wind it up, how much tension etc.. ?
Has anyone on the forum changed one of these regulators out ? Big job ? Pain in the @$$ ? Guidance, pointers, encouragement appreciated.
BTW, these are power windows but I understand the manual windows suffer from the same problem after years of being wound down and up.
Thanks, Hugh.

I did this on my 97' and it was not a big deal - I have changed some others before though. I think that I bought the regulator at autozone or at murray's for under $90. The spring is not bad - just be carefull with the plastic clips that hold the motor in place - I broke one. It still works, but I know some day it may fail. I believe that I had trouble with the clips on the window - I did get them off, but I do not remember how so take a good look at them before trying to remove them.
