Excels suck:D. Basically, Hyundais in general suck!:D

Especially the riced up ones... too many of these cheap try-hard wannabe racers buzzing around in OZ - all the same; slap-on body-kits, WRX bonnet scoops & loud exhaust systems, and no engine mods or engine accessories.

My old 1981 Toyota Celica RA60 with 350,000+km on the clock (which stopped working 2years ago) would still eat one of these P.O.S. in a drag.

I thought i might aswell be the first to post in here ;) - to get this forum started:D

Me, well personally I don't think I'm a normal "wannabe", I'm a fun loving chick and I think my Excel has potential...after I rip out the interior, rip out the dash board and buy a daihatsu one and after a few weeks of tranforming it, cutting it and adding more fibergalss to it I can fit it into my Excel so it can add to the "different feel" of the car....then i can think of my OWN...UNIQUE bodykit made from a pro not a wannabe bodykit that everyone has, get some nice mags and a whole heap of fluro lights to fit to my car etc etc etc etc etc and then the final finish with be "MY BABE"!!!! and it won't look like a hyundai after Im thru with it.
Maybe I've contradicated myself, I see that the hyundai has hard seats and lacks in torque but I just dont think that u should be so harsh on any car by prejudging it.

I see 81 model celicas looking like boxes with full bodykits on them and Old Excels and just downright shit cars and Im thinking when I pass them by, "WHAT THE...how could they drive such rubbish...but they probably love that car to pieces and think it's the hottest thing on the road and I respect that because everyone has their different opinions...I think its shit..they think it's not..words may hurt but it'll never bring us Hyundai drivers down..

Within the 3year warranty period, just about everything on the car fell off or stopped working - gear box, brakes, hand brake, wipers, radio-cassette player, window winder, air conditoning, indicators, and the list continues... She traded it in before the warranty ran out and got a generous $AU6k for it - She originally paid $AU22k:eek:

Well..when car fanatics buy cars they usually convert it totally and rip out heaps of things..original is never the best..and things usually need a bit of work before its good and ready..face it all cars have their problems....and everyone knows taht the gearbox needs to get ripped out and put in a brand new one (better brand) before it's even driven.

The RA60 was and is my first car. It only has mild budget mods which I put on while I was still at school and didn't have a job. 2¼inch sports exhaust, Genie 4-2-1 extractors,

My brother has it now as he crashed his 93 Celica.

I am the type that favours upgrading a cars performance & handling to dressing it up. But hey that's just me, I like the stealth look - ala very stock ;)

If you are into looks rather than performance and admit that it is all show and no go than that is ok with me. I just laugh at the clowns who put in a huge chrome sports exhaust tip, cut their springs, slip on coloured seat covers, and slap on a bonnet scoop & vents and think their Excel, Lanos, Mirage, or Starlet can take on a WRX... it just so happens that most of these guys drive Excels... in Melbourne anyways.

That's just how I see it.

The Excel of 93 (and ahead) looked ok for its time and came with some convenient features for the price. The car seemed right.
A friend living in front of the beach bought one long time ago and the car went rusty (oxidize) in like less than 2 years. Also, to the car it sounded everything. He trusted Hyundai once again in 1996 buying an Accent GLS and until now he has repaired brakes, suspension, dashboard painting, seats clothes riping off, and I don´t know what else! :eek: :rolleyes: :)

Like I said..that extractor thing...makes no sense to me, If i spent some time knowing what it was all about I'd be too bored to buy a car. Hyndais are white trash cars, I mean corollas and civics are nice but hyndai is a wanna honda, hello they made their name sound like honda and look like honda to ride off the rep of honda, not for long though now everyone knows they suck, My best friend has a 98 hyndai accent, sorry but it sucks a$$ he put rims on it and a sound system, the car has just reached 35k miles , the warranty is up now and his drivers window jams while rolling it up and the steering shakes on the highway, He has taken it to an allignment center several times, But I mean he did only pay 8K new so I dunno

Excelent story XL, but still doesn't change the fact that my RA60 is till a POS.
My 97 Celica ST204 I bought with my girlfriend. That's what happens when you get hitched - they make all the (wrong) decisions, like chosing what car to buy - I wanted the REX or 200 SX, at least we agreed on the colour black.

My little bro crashed his Celica (I don't know what's with Celicas in our family:confused: ) trying to take a left corner (not a bend) at 70kph, needless to say he didn't succeed. He hit the kerb on the wrong side of the road, lucky there was no oncoming traffic, he punctured both RHS front & rear tyres, destroyed his Momo rims, snapped his rear axle, and about $2k in panel damage. He is one of those dickheads who doesn't know the limits of his car, he thinks that once you've lowered your car you can just fly around corners. YOU IDIOT:silly:

I think the number plate you want "MY00" etc is taken. Go check out the RTA site on www.rta.nsw.gov.au
Follow my instructions-
1.Pick from the "FOCUS ON" list
2. click on Number plates
3. At the bottom of the writing click "see personal plates"
4. Again go to the bottom of the page & press "Design ur special number plate".
Then u write in what word u want to put on ur Plate and what type u want the plate to be and it tells u if it's been chosen. It's pretty cool, I love it!

My 96 sprint goes really well after 6 years, is economical to run and a beautiful lilac colour. I don't flaunt it, I just love it and take care of it. It's my baby, like first cars are to most people. You don't need to justify how good your car is or put down other cars to make it seem better, all it needs is a bit of love, so make the most of it, and appreciate it, and it will love you back :flash:

Yes - they tend to fall apart.
Yes - they are gutless when stock outta the factory.
Yes - they are limited in the amount power extraction from the engine with enhancements
Yes - tryhards who slap on a exhaust tip and think they can do 10sec 1/4mile times drive them (mostly).
Yes - they are for sweet Girlz like U XL.

You can’t just label all excel drivers as try hards- the ones that slap on an exhaust cuz all u other car drivers do it too and we do it cuz we love our car and wanna do it up, no biggey. Surprisingly the accent is number one small car and seems to be flawless in everyway apart from it looking like a dog but its still good that its got Hyundais name. I hope they remake the excel later on in life!!

Excels werent made for power, but the koreans actually focused on the electronics of the excel. It's pretty good u should look into it.

I didn't say all Excel driver's were tryhards, just that most tryhard-wannabe-racers drive Excels:D - These are the guys who line you up at the lights with the cassette deck pumping out distortion and they've just got there new 13" mags, 5" chrome tip and a "No Fear" sticker on the back windscreen - so that must equate to 5 or 6 seconds off their 1/4mile time. Pfft - Haha :lol2:

The only cars I ever saw in Australia are gumby Commodores, Falcons, Magnas, Caamrys and Hyundais- All you guys make are badges and 20 year old Fords :rolleyes: And for the record you guys have more sheep than us :rolleyes:

Commodore, Falcon, Magna and Camry are all Australian designed and built. Our automotive industry is worth more than 16.5 Billion every year.

That's about 16.5 Billion more than New Zealand. And yes Australia does have more sheep than New Zealand, but we still have more people than sheep. Which I can't say the same for you Kiwis! :flipa:

Well lets see, there are 46 million sheep in NZ, there are more sheep in Australia than NZ, there are 20 million people in Australia- You do the math...sheep shagger :rolleyes:


Who gives if we don't have an industry- We can but a Turbo'd R32 Skyline for the price of a 97 Accent (Or Excel as you backward thinkers call it) Whereas over there it costs about 7 times as much to get a half-decent performance car



Also, the fact your industry is so sheltered, means you have to drive shitty ass V6 Falcons and Commodores- We get more choice (I did a comparision of the August 2002 NZ Autocar and Wheels price lists there are 25 more trim levels (ie Accent LS, Accent GLS) overall (meaning all brands) than that of Australia) and only taxi drivers, cops and unlucky fleet-fodders drive Australian models :rolleyes: (Except V8's- white trash types drive them)
