AutoTrac II in my 96'?

I have recently flushed out the fluid in my differentials, and now it is time to do the transfer case. Will it harm my transfer case if I use GM AutoTrac II in it? I realize this was designed for vehicles with AutoTrac transfer cases in them, but I have heard it is still good to use on older vehicles. I believe it is somewhere around $7 a quart at the dealer. Thanks.

If it is not a automatic transfer case I would stay with the dexron 111 fluid.
Lube Gard makes a bottole of red additive for dexron 111 that would give it a little better lube.

It's a push button activated transfer case. I'm assuming that's not an automatic transfer case then, correct? Should I go with synthetic fluid? I suppose I'll just stick to conventional. I have used Lube Gard in my transmission with good results, I will pick some of that up and add it. Thanks MT.

Unless you shift buttons has a auto button it is the old regular transfer case.
There is a tag on back to id it.
On the one that calls for dexron 111 my info says not to use synthetic fluid or the new gm type 6
transmission fluid in them.
If you can not find any more dex 111 carquest has the mercon/dexron fluid.
Get the lube Gard red bottle for dexron 111 fluid.

Cool I'll go take a look at the case number so I know how much fluid to put in it. Conventional Dexron III and Lube Gard it is. Thanks.

241 transfer case K1500-K2500 sub takes 4.6 to 5.2 pts.
Fill it up untill it runs out the top filler hole.
